Teratomas are tumors of germ cell derivation consist of tissues derived from all the three germ cell layers. They comprise the most common extragonadal germ cell tumors (EGCT) in childhood. EGCTs of head and neck region account for only 5% of all benign and malignant germ cell tumors and for 6% of all teratomas. Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) arising from germ cell tumor is a distinct e...

PURPOSE Transcription factor activator protein-2gamma (TFAP2C, AP-2gamma) was reported previously in extraembryonic ectoderm and breast carcinomas but not in the testis. In our recent gene expression study we detected AP-2gamma in carcinoma in situ testis (CIS, or intratubular germ cell neoplasia), precursor of testicular germ cell tumors. In this study we aimed to investigate the expression pa...

Tumors of the pineal region can be divided into three categories (Rubinstein, 1970): (1) germ cell tumors, which range from surgically curable mature teratomas to the malignant germ cell tumors capable of metastasizing throughout the neuraxis; (2) pineal parenchymal tumors, such as the low-grade pineocytoma and the malignant pineoblastoma; and (3) other tumors such as intra-axial astrocytomas, ...

Ovarian tumors can be classified by their origin - epithelial tumors, germ cell and stromal tumors. Malignant struma ovarii (MSO) are 0.01% of all ovarian In order to as a ovarii, more than 50% the teratoma consists thyroid tissue. The tissue in exhibits same histological physiological properties that cervical Poorly differentiated carcinoma (PDTC) is an extremely rare occurrence when arising f...

INTRODUCTION Testicular tumors can be classified as seminomatous and non-seminomatous germ-cell tumor (NSGCT) types. Mixed germ cell tumors contain more than one germ cell component and are much more common than any of the pure histologic forms representing 32%-60% of all germ cell tumors. The composition of these tumors varies. Here we present a rare case of a mixed germ cell tumor composed of...

Patients with advanced disseminated germ cell tumors of the testis, retroperitoneum, and mediastinum have impaired survival compared to other patients with disseminated germ cell tumors having less bulky metastatic disease. Among patients with advanced disseminated germ cell tumors, we currently lack adequate predictors of long-term survival. Flow cytometric analysis of the paraffin-embedded, f...

Germ cell tumors are highly curable when treated appropriately. The majority of germ cell tumors arise in the testes, with a proportion having pulmonary parenchymal or mediastinal metastases. For patients who have such tumors, prompt diagnosis and treatment with chemotherapy are essential. A subset of these patients will have persistent radiographic abnormalities after chemotherapy and will ben...

Purpose: Malignant ovarian germ cell tumors cause 5% of cancers. Studies examining prognosis and survival rates are significant due to malignant tumors' rarity. We aimed investigate outcome prognostic factors in these patients.
Materials Methods: The study includes clinicopathological records tumor patients our clinic between April 1992 November 2017. Demographic clinical characteristics,...

The most frequent location for non-metastatic germ cell tumors is the anterior mediastinum. Primary lung germ cell tumors are an exception in medical literature being limited to just a few cases of choriocarcinomas and rare cases of yolk-sac tumors. In this paper, we report a case of a pulmonary yolk-sac tumor with atypical characteristic as regards its diagnosis and treatment.
