This paper presents a procedure for creating a probabilistic finite-state model for mobile robots and for finding a sequence of controllers ensuring the highest probability for reaching some desired regions. The approach starts by using results for controlling affine systems in simpliceal partitions, and then it creates a finite-state representation with history-based probabilities on transitio...

Article history: Received: 03.10.2014. Received in revised form: 19.12.2014. Accepted: 30.12.2014. In this work, the effect of adherend shape on the tensile strength of adhesively bonded single lap aluminum structures joint was numerically studied using three dimensional finite element models. Six joint models were investigated. In this paper, a static finite element analysis was performed in A...

In this paper, seismic behavior of the existing buildings equipped by friction dampers is studied. Seismic performance of6-story, 9-story and 12-story steel buildings with damper and without damper were studied. The finite element modeling technique (SAP2000 Software) is used for analysis. Time History analyzing was done to achieve this purpose. For nonlinear dynamic analysis, the responses of ...

We extend the quantum-mechanical results of Muller & Saunders (2008) establishing the weak discernibility of an arbitrary number of similar fermions in finite-dimensional Hilbert-spaces in two ways: (a) from fermions to bosons for all finite-dimensional Hilbert-spaces; and (b) from finite-dimensional to infinitedimensional Hilbert-spaces for all elementary particles. In both cases this is perfo...

In this paper we consider learning the environment model in reinforcement learning tasks where the environment cannot be fully observed. The most popular frameworks for environment modeling are POMDPs and PSRs but they are considered difficult to learn. We propose to bypass this hard problem by assuming that (a) the sufficient statistic of any history can be represented as one of finitely many ...

Finite-model theory is a study of the logical properties of finite mathematical structures. This paper is a very personalized view of finite-model theory, where the author focuses on his own personal history, and results and problems of interest to him, especially those springing from work in his Ph.D. thesis. Among the topics discussed are: (1) D#&mces herween the model theory of‘jinire struct...

Finite mixture models have a long history in statistics, having been used to model pupulation heterogeneity, generalize distributional assumptions, and lately, for providing a convenient yet formal framework for clustering and classification. This paper provides a detailed review into mixture models and model-based clustering. Recent trends in the area, as well as open problems are also discussed.

We show that history-preserving bisimilarity for higher-dimensional automata has a simple characterization directly in terms of higher-dimensional transitions. This implies that it is decidable for finite higher-dimensional automata. To arrive at our characterization, we apply the open-maps framework of Joyal, Nielsen and Winskel in the category of unfoldings of precubical sets.

Many researchers content themselves with the 2D simulation of welding process instead of the 3D simulation, because of the time and the cost factors of the latter. In this research, the number of elements and nodes are reduced by an initiative plan (defining an equivalent model) for the simulation of welding. The welding process has been simulated by an uncoupled thermal-mechanical finite eleme...

I construct a finite-dimensional quantum theory from general relativity by a homotopy method. Its quantum history is made up of at least two levels of fermionic elements. Its unitary group has the diffeomorphism group as singular limit. Its gravitational metrical form is the algebraic square. Its spinors are multivectors.
