We present a novel and facile synthesis methodology for obtaining graphitic carbon structures from Fe(II) and Co(II) gluconates. The formation of graphitic carbon can be carried out in only one step by means of heat treatment of these organic salts at a temperature of 900 degrees C or 1000 degrees C under inert atmosphere. This process consists of the following steps: (a) pyrolysis of the organ...

We present the synthesis of dual-responsive (pH and temperature) magnetic core-shell nanoparticles utilizing the grafting-from approach. First, oleic acid stabilized superparamagnetic maghemite (γ-Fe(2)O(3)) nanoparticles (NPs), prepared by thermal decomposition of iron pentacarbonyl, were surface-functionalized with ATRP initiating sites bearing a dopamine anchor group via ligand exchange. Sub...

The synthesis of highly crystalline and monodisperse gamma-Fe(2)O(3) nanocrystallites is reported. High-temperature (300 degrees C) aging of iron-oleic acid metal complex, which was prepared by the thermal decomposition of iron pentacarbonyl in the presence of oleic acid at 100 degrees C, was found to generate monodisperse iron nanoparticles. The resulting iron nanoparticles were transformed to...

In the present study, Fe3O4 super paramagnetic nanoparticles were synthesized via co-precipitation of Fe3+ and Fe2+ chloride salts in the presence of ammonia Solution. The product was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and zeta–potential particle size distributing methods. The synt...

Fe(2+) cations in FeCl(2) or FeSO(4) were oxidized by graphene oxide, leading to an in situ deposition of Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles onto the self-reduced graphene oxide (rGO) sheets. The resultant Fe(3)O(4)/rGO sheets were demonstrated to possess interesting magnetic and electrochemical properties attractive for a large variety of potential applications.

The Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles, tailored with maleimidyl 3-succinimidopropionate ligands, were conjugated with paclitaxel molecules that were attached with a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) spacer through a phosphodiester moiety at the (C-2')-OH position. The average number of paclitaxel molecules/nanoparticles was determined as 83. These nanoparticles liberated paclitaxel molecules upon exposure to p...

Iron oxide (Fe2O3) nanoparticles were prepared by combination of sol-gel autocombustion and ultrasonic irradiation. The XRD pattern reveals that the crystallite size of sample is 36.7 nm and the phase identification shows hematite, syn has been crystalized. The morphology of the sample investigated by FESEM showed that particle size of the sample was about 76 nm. The optic...

Spin-crossover compounds are a class of materials that can change their spin state from high spin (HS) to low spin (LS) by external stimuli such as light, pressure or temperature. Applications demand compounds with defined properties concerning the size and switchability that are maintained when the compound is integrated into composite materials. Here, we report the synthesis of [Fe(Leq)(Lax)]...

a carbon ionic liquid electrode (cile) modified with tio2-fe nanoparticles was constructed by incorporating tio2-fe nanoparticles into the paste matrix. under the optimized experimental conditions, using differential pulse voltammetry (dpv), the oxidation of thiocyanate and oxalate were occurred at potentials of 0.740 v and 1.010 v, respectively, at the surface of the modified electrode. observi...
