The interplay of neural and hormonal mechanisms activated by entero- and extero-receptors biases the selection of actions by decision making neuronal circuits. The reproductive behavior of acoustically communicating grasshoppers, which is regulated by short-term neural and longer-term hormonal mechanisms, has frequently been used to study the cellular and physiological processes that select par...

Water withdrawal from Mediterranean reservoirs in summer is usually very high. Because of this, stratification is often continuous and far from the typical two-layered structure, favoring the excitation of higher vertical modes. The analysis of wind, temperature, and current data from Sau reservoir (Spain) shows that the third vertical mode of the internal seiche (baroclinic mode) dominated the...

Determination and analysis of vibration behavior of structures for at least first few natural frequencies and mode shapes needs several sensors to be connected at different non node points and exciting the structure at one point. Other method for determination of first few mode shapes is to excite several points of the structure at once and sensing the response from one point.  Both methods nee...

We implement the de-excitation processes of residual nuclei associated with proton decays in C 12 based on GENIE generator and TALYS code. To derive reasonable excitation energy spectra B 11 , 10 Be default nucleon decay is modified terms Spectral Function nuclear model. Then we use code to estimate nuclei. The calculation can partly account for experimental data.

Two-center level diagrams for the neutron orbitals in the scattering of '60 on "Mg and of "0 on 24Mg are calculated by using a deformed potential for 24,25Mg. Possible consequences of the nuclear Landau-Zener mechanism, namely the promotion of nucleons at avoided level crossings, and of the rotational coupling between crossing molecular singleparticle orbitals are studied for inelastic excitati...

Tunneling of electrons traversing a few-electron quantum dot is strongly influenced by the Coulomb interaction leading to Coulomb blockade effects and single-electron tunneling. We present calculations which demonstrate that correlations between the electrons cause a strong suppression of most of the energetically allowed tunneling processes involving excited dot states. The excitation of cente...

Low-energy collisions of atomic ions and cluster ions with rare gas covered metal substrates can lead to strong light emission which is element and size specific. Instead of a direct energy transfer into the electronic system of the cluster the observed emission originates from excitons trapped in the rare gas layer which carries the excitation energy. The nature of the processes involved in th...

Figure 2: The EpR model Gain excitation resonance Amp freq freq vocal tract resonances Amp excitation curve residual envelope Abstract: This paper is a review of the work contained in the insides of a sample-based virtual singing synthesizer. Starting with a narrative of the evolution of the techniques involved in it, the paper focuses mainly on the description of its current components and pro...
