Low cost activated carbon, prepared from saw dust of Ziziphus jujube by chemical activation with phosphoric acid (H3PO4) was characterized and utilized for the removal of Cr (VI) ions from aqueous solutions under different conditions of solution pH, contact time, initial concentration, carbon dose and temperature. Adsorption of Cr (VI) ions was found highly pH dependent that increased with decr...

Rapid increase in construction activities leads to active shortage of conventional construction materials due to various regions. Concrete is most widely used construction material. Cement, sand & granite stone are the constituents of the concrete. Researches were researching for cheaper materials that can be used as substitute for these materials. In this context an experimental study was carr...

The enzyme activities of Trichoderma viride and Aspergillus niger grown on various waste cellulosic materials such as corncobs, saw dust and sugarcane baggase were tested for a period of 192 hrs. The maximum activity of 0.33 mg/min/ml & 0.026 mg/min/ml of cellulase enzyme were found to be produced on saw dust after 144 hrs by Aspergillus niger & Trichoderma viride, respectively. Corncob showed ...

The results of experimental studies of organic dust detonation in the presence of chemically inert particles are presented. Tests were carried out using a vertical detonation tube, and direct streak pictures showing the flame acceleration and pressure and temperature records were obtained. Flax dust, dispersed in an oxygen atmosphere, was used as the fuel, and two kinds of quartz sand were intr...

A fluid analysis of the excitation of dust ion-acoustic (DIA) waves in a collisional dusty plasma is presented. The DIA waves are excited by a relative drift of the electrons and ions produced by a steady-state electric field applied to the plasma. The DIA instability is more easily excited if the relative concentration of negatively charged dust is increased.

Acoustic wave devices have been in commercial use for more than 60 years. The telecommunications industry is the largest consumer, accounting for ~3 bil lion acoustic wave filters annually, primarily in mobile cell phones and base stations. These are typically surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices, and act as bandpass filters in both the radio frequency and intermediate frequency sections of the ...

This study explores the use of scanning acoustic microscopy (SAM) as a potential tool for characterisation of arterial stiffness using aortic biopsies. SAM data is presented for human tissue collected during aortic bypass graft surgery for multi-vessel coronary artery disease. Acoustic wave speed as determined by SAM was compared to clinical data for the patients namely, pulse wave velocity (PW...

The scientific objective of this research is to understand acoustic wave propagation in a dynamic environment in two frequency bands: Low (50 Hz to 500 Hz) and Mid-to-High (500 Hz to 25 kHz). The goal for the low frequency band is to assess the effects of internal waves on acoustic wave propagation, with an emphasis on the mechanisms that cause significant acoustic temporal and spatial intensit...
