The physical reasons why the Drude dielectric function is not compatible with the Lifshitz formula, as opposed to the generalized plasma-like permittivity, are presented. Essentially, the problem is connected with the finite size of metal plates. It is shown that the Lifshitz theory combined with the generalized plasma-like permittivity is thermodynamically consistent.
We present the results on the anomalous 2D transport behavior by employing Drude-Boltzmann transport theory and taking into account the realistic charge impurity scattering effects. The charge dynamics of the copper oxide materials in the underdoped and optimal doped regimes is studied within the framework of the fermion-spin theory. The conductivity spectrum shows the non-Drude behavior at low energies and unusual midinfrared peak, and the resistivity exhibits a linear behavior in the temperature, which are consistent with experiments and numerical simulations.
The residual resistivity ρ in metals caused by wedge disclination dipoles is studied in the framework of the Drude formula. It is shown that ρ ∼ L −p with p = 3 for biaxial and p = 2 for uniaxial dipoles (L is a size of dipole arm).
