An efficient method for N-arylation of purines is reported. The N-arylation is catalysed by Cu(i) and 4,7-bis(2-hydroxyethylamino)-1,10-phenanthroline (BHPhen) in aqueous DMF or ethanol. The reaction generally proceeds with high selectivity for the N(9)-position.

Displacement reaction of 2,3-dichloroquinoxaline with secondary amines in boiling ethanol afforded it`s mono aminoquinoxaline derivatives. Further reaction of the latter compounds with sodium azide in warm dimethylsulfoxide achieved a group of 4-amino tetrazolo[1,5-a]quinoxaline derivatives. 1HNMR spectra of these compounds are discussed.

Treatment of 1-(5-bromo-2-chloro-6-methylpyrimidin-4-yl)-1-methylhydrazine with dimethylthiocarbamoylchloride gave 7-chloro-N,N,1,5-tetramethyl-1H-pyrimido[4,5-e][1,3,4]thiadiazin-3-amine in basic acetonitrile. The latter compounds were reacted with secondary amines in boiling ethanol to afford the related 7-amino derivatives.
