The title compound, C14H28N2O5S, was synthesized by the reaction of 2-[(methyl-sulfan-yl)meth-yl]oxirane with di-tert-butyl oxalate in hydrazine hydrate. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into supra-molecular chains propagating along the b-axis direction.

A protocol for the copper-catalyzed N-methylation of sulfoximines with di-tert-butyl peroxide (DTBP) was developed. This protocol has good functional group tolerance leading to N-methylated sulfoximines in moderate to good yields. Besides, N-ethylation of sulfoximines was achieved in the presence of bis(1,1-dimethylpropyl)peroxide as the ethylating agent under a standard procedure.

Cross-dehydrogenative-coupling (CDC) between C-H/C-H bonds of indoles and cyclic ethers/cycloalkanes is made viable through a simple transition-metal-free pathway. The simple condensation reaction of 3,5-di-tert-butyl salicylaldehyde and 3-aminophenylboronic acid leads to a trimeric macrocyclic compound. The ability of this molecule to include small organic molecules was in a first approximation analyzed by (1)H NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
