In production planning (PP) periods with excess capacity and growing demand, the manufacturers have two options to use the excess capacity. First, it could do more changeovers and thus reduce lot sizes, inventories, and inventory costs. Second, it could produce in excess of demand in the period and build additional inventory that can be used to satisfy future demand increments, thus delaying th...

Considering the supply chain consists of one supplier and two retailers, we construct the system’s dynamic models which face stochastic demand in the case of non-lateral transshipment (NLT), unidirectional lateral transshipment (ULT) and bidirectional lateral transshipment (BLT). Numerical example simulation experiments of these models were run on Venple. We adopt customer demand satisfaction r...

As knowledge is power, information is power in supply chains. It (information) provides the decision maker the power to get ahead of the competition, the power to run a business smoothly and efficiently, and the power to succeed in an ever more complex environment. Information plays a key role in the management of the supply chain. but how the different combination of information sharing based ...

An important phenomenon in supply chain management, known as the bullwhip effect, suggests that demand variability increases as one moves up a supply chain. This paper examines the influence of different replenishment policies on the occurrence of the bullwhip effect. The paper demonstrates that certain replenishment policies can in themselves be inducers of the bullwhip effect, while others in...

supply chain management has been considered by many researchers in order to coordinate the chain members in this new age so that it is considered as a strategic approach for demands, operations, procurements and managing logistical processes. the present study deals with survey of supply components in supply chain management and their effect on organization performance. the research conceptual ...

This paper examines the case of one supply chain in the electricity sector where RFID technology integrated with firm’s information systems acts as an enabler of process optimization. Using a business process approach and laboratory simulation, we explain how the implementation of RFID technology can increase the visibility of information at various layers of the supply chain, allowing members ...

The two objectives of this project were to develop an understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the supply chain of a family of currently marketed products manufactured overseas and distributed/sold worldwide and to increase the agility of the supply chain while achieving a target service level of 99% and maintaining or decreasing costs. A model was created to explore the current sup...

Demand forecasting is one of the fundamental components a successful revenue management system. This paper provides new model, which inspired by cubic smoothing splines, resulting in smooth demand curves per rate class over time until check-in date. This model makes trade-off between error and smoothness fit, therefore able to capture natural guest behavior. The tested on hospitality data. We al...

Rumor spreading is an important factor resulting in supply chain demand disruption. A supply-chain demand change prediction model is developed based on a new rumor spreading model, Susceptible-Infective-Isolated-Immune (SI2I) model. In this model, the impact of rumors on demand can be quantitatively reflected by the proportion of ignorants and immunes in the population.

one effective method for improving the performance of supply chain is making coordination among members of supply chain. this paper studies the subject of coordination of supply chain by using an insurance contract. the supply chain consists of one-manufacturer and one-retailer that the retailer is faced with potential demand and returning of goods from customer. acceptance of goods returned is...
