Introduction: Proximal and distal tibial fractures with a compromised soft tissue envelop still pose treatment dilemma or challenge for the orthopedic surgeon LCPs have advantages of angular stability from locking-head mechanism less irritation when compared traditional external fixators due to their low profiles. Here is poster case report same.Case Report: A 37-year-old male, flouriest, Badra...
A 44-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with dengue fever. She developed a haematoma in the right arm at the site of a previous arterial line insertion. Due to coexisting thrombocytopenia, the bleeding was severe enough to cause compartment syndrome. An emergency fasciotomy was performed and her limb salvaged. The case illustrates one important potential complication of this common inf...
Compartment syndrome is an infrequent but serious complication which can occur post-operatively. In our case, a patient developed severe left calf pain following short saphenous vein surgery. She underwent emergency fasciotomy and made an excellent recovery. Informed consent for varicose vein surgery should probably include the possibility of developing compartment syndrome.
A case of cardiorespiratory arrest in a 28 year old man after cocaine and heroin ingestion is described. The arrest is attributed primarily to hyperkalaemia/rhabdomyolysis-a recognised consequence of each of these drugs. The administration of naloxone may have been contributory. He developed acute renal failure, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy with consequent lower limb compartment synd...
The author describes a case of a 10-year-old boy with fracture of both forearm bones and a concomitant partial rupture of the ulnar artery. The damage to the ulnar artery was repaired at the time of fasciotomy with a good functional outcome.
Acute thrombo-embolic occlusions of the subclavian artery account for less than 1% of all acute arterial occlusions of the extremities. One such case is presented and the management discussed with special reference to the technique of embolectomy and the treatment of the reperfusion syndrome with either fasciotomy or mannitol. The question of anticoagulation is also examined.
We reported a rare case of thigh compartment syndrome (TCS) complicated by sciatic nerve palsy, rhabdomyolysis, and acute renal failure in an alcoholic patient. Intensive care measures and immediate posteromedial decompressive fasciotomy were performed. These timely interventions resulted in improvement of the nerve injury and restoration of the kidney function.
A diabetic patient with chronic heart failure developed necrotizing fasciitis and bacteremia caused by Chryseobacterium meningosepticum, which rapidly evolved into death, even with fasciotomy and intensive care. A review of the English literature found 10 cases of soft tissue infection caused by C. meningosepticum, which is rarely acquired in the community.
OBJECTIVE To analyze the factors affecting the occurrence and severity of crush syndrome (CS) after crush injury (CI) in pediatric trauma victims in the Wenchuan earthquake. METHODS Medical records of 98 patients who were transferred to our hospital were retrospectively reviewed. The risk factors, such as age, gender, time being besieged, type of injury, wound infection, hemodialysis, etc., w...
