In the present review, we describe current knowledge about synthesis of borate crosslinked rhamnogalacturonan II (RG-II) and it physiological roles. RG-II is a portion of pectic polysaccharide with high complexity, present in primary cell wall. It is composed of homogalacturonan backbone and four distinct side chains (A-D). Borate forms ester bonds with the apiosyl residues of side chain A of t...

HDPE monofilaments were obtained using different extruders and drawn by post-extruder equipments. After solidification, drawn and undrawn monofilaments (draw ratio 7:1) were irradiated with 10 MeV electron beams in air at room temperature at 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125 kGy dose ranges to induce a network structure. HDPE crosslinking was studied on the basis of gel content measurements. The fibers w...

The leukocyte function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1) molecule is well established as a surface protein involved in cellular adhesion and interaction, but there has been little information about whether engagement of this molecule can also directly modify cellular activation. These studies demonstrate that crosslinking the LFA-1 molecule on human T cell clones transmits a unique signal to the cel...

Figure 3. Comparison of BSA crosslinking efficiency by SDS-PAGE. Different crosslinkers were incubated with BSA at molar excess of crosslinker to protein (e.g. 20, 100 or 500-fold). Crosslinking efficiency is shown by decreased mobility by SDS-PAGE and varied by crosslinker type, solubility and concentration. Figure 1. Structures of non-cleavable and MS-cleavable crosslinkers used for protein –...

A facile temperature induced self-assembly and self-crosslinking method has been developed for preparing bioreducible nanogels/microgels without need of any stabilizer, catalyst or additional crosslinking agent. The size of formed nanogels/microgels can be easily tuned via the polymer concentration.

Monodisperse alginate microgels (10-50 μm) are created via droplet-based microfluidics by a novel crosslinking procedure. Ionic crosslinking of alginate is induced by release of chelated calcium ions. The process separates droplet formation and gelation reaction enabling excellent control over size and homogeneity under mild reaction conditions. Living mesenchymal stem cells are encapsulated an...

Exposure of DNA to several proteins peroxidized by radiation-generated hydroxyl free radicals resulted in formation of crosslinks between the macromolecules, detected by retardation and broadening of DNA bands in agarose gels. This technique proved suitable for the study of crosslinking of DNA with peroxidized BSA, insulin, apotransferrin and alpha casein, but not with several other proteins, i...

BACKGROUND We applied crosslinking techniques as a first step in preparation of stable avian sarcoma virus (ASV) integrase (IN)-DNA complexes for crystallographic investigations. These results were then compared with the crystal structures of the prototype foamy virus (PFV) intasome and with published data for other retroviral IN proteins. METHODOLOGY/RESULTS Photoaffinity crosslinking and si...

A simple self-crosslinking strategy, without the needs of a separate crosslinker or a catalyst, is reported here. The crosslinking drastically lowers the water swelling ratio (e.g., 5-10 folds reduction) and provides excellent solvent-resistance. The self-crosslinked membrane (DCL: 5.3%) shows the highest IEC-normalized hydroxide conductivity among all crosslinked HEMs reported.

Three new polyfunctional amines were synthesized. Polyimide films containing varying amounts of the amine crosslinking agents were prepared. Their thermomechanical properties were compared with those of control film samples prepared from difunctional amines. The effect of crosslink density on isothermal weight loss, polymer softening, and glass transition temperature is discussed. EFFECTS OF MU...
