Background Postoperative complications from the Central Nervous System after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Operations (CABG) can range from transient neurologic or psychological changes to massive brain infarction and irreversible coma. The risk of stoke after CABG is approximately 2%. Multiple mechanisms such as brain hypoperfusion during or after the operation, carotid stenosis and emboliza...

Development of coronary artery aneurysm (CAA) after implantation of drug-eluting stent is occasionally observed. We present a case of a 67-year-old man who underwent everolimus-eluting stent (EES) implantation in right coronary artery (RCA) for inferior wall myocardial infarction, and thereafter, giant CAAs were developed in the vessel of stent deployment, within 2 months. However, the patient ...

We report a case of a 53-year-old female patient with isolated left main coronary artery stenosis in whom a completely endoscopic double coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedure was performed. The operation was carried out on the arrested heart. A right internal mammary artery graft was sutured to the left anterior descending artery using the daVinci telemanipulation system. The left in...

Herein, we are presenting a case of persistent interatrial septal defect diagnosed during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Twice, attempts had been made to close this shunt using amplatzer septal occlude. However, percutaneous technique had failed in both occasions. The patient presented with chest pain 4 years after the second attempt and required urgent CABG. Persistent shunt was repai...

We performed redo-off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting( OPCAB) via a left thoracotomy using the PAS-Port system for proximal vein graft anastomoses in a patient with posterolateral myocardial ischemia. The patient was a 76-year-old man who had undergone coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)[ left internal thoracic artery( LITA)-left anterior descending artery( LAD), saphenous vein graft(SV...

It is well known that patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) often have concomitant coronary artery disease (CAD). In cases of AAA with severe CAD requiring coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), two therapeutic strategies regarding the timing of CABG can be considered: staged or simultaneous operations. However, the ideal treatment of patients with large AAA and critical CAD remains co...

Compartment syndrome is a rare, devastating complication of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP). Prompt diagnosis is based on symptoms and signs and is paramount for limb rescue. This report describes a CABG patient with IABP in whom receiving continuous analgesia-sedation obscured the symptoms of compartment syndrome.

Carotid cavernous fistulas are abnormal communications between the carotid and cavernous vasculature, with potential for serious neurological and ocular sequelae. There is considerable literature on the neuro-radiological management of carotico-cavernous fistula depending upon their flow status. The coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) for coronary artery disease (CAD) is a well established m...
