We have used high-resolution radio observations to study the physical parameters of a flaring loop. The loop is visible at radio wavelengths due to gyrosynchrotron emission by nonthermal electrons (energies typically above 500 keV) accelerated by the flare. We are able to measure the loop thickness and length with a precision better than 1 00. We find that the loop length increases from about 6...

Abstract In this paper, we present multiwavelength observations of the triggering a failed-eruptive M-class flare from active region NOAA 11302 and investigate possible reasons for associated failed eruption. Photospheric nonlinear force-free field extrapolated coronal magnetic revealed that flaring had complex quadrupolar configuration with preexisting nullpoint situated above core field. Prio...

We present millimeter, optical, and soft X-ray observations of a stellar flare with an energy squarely in the regime typical X1 solar flares. The was observed from Proxima Cen on 2019 May 6 as part larger multi-wavelength monitoring campaign captured by Chandra, LCOGT, du Pont, ALMA. Millimeter emission appears to be common occurrence small flares that had gone undetected until recently, making...

Magnetic helicity of solar active regions is quantified by the twist and writhe of their underlying flux tubes. The twist component, in particular, is believed to be an important determinant of the energetics and dynamics of active regions that ultimately lead to coronal heating and solar eruptive activity. Here, I review the role of active region twist in the context of solar activity – laying...

Bilateral symmetry in vertebrates is imperfect and mild asymmetries are found in normal growth and development. However, abnormal development is often characterized by strong asymmetries. Coronal craniosynostosis, defined here as consisting of premature suture closure and a characteristic skull shape, is a complex trait. The premature fusion of the coronal suture can occur unilaterally associat...

Gas flaring is a combustion device to burn associated, unwanted or excess gases and liquids released during normal or unplanned over-pressuring operation in many industrial processes, such as oil-gas extraction, refineries, chemical plants, coal industry and landfills. Gas flaring is a significant source of greenhouse gases emissions. It also generates noise, heat and provided large areas uninh...

Abstract—Gas flaring is one of the most GHG emitting sources in the oil and gas industries. It is also a major way for wasting such an energy that could be better utilized and even generates revenue. Minimize flaring is an effective approach for reducing GHG emissions and also conserving energy in flaring systems. Integrating waste and flared gases into the fuel gas networks (FGN) of refineries...

Aims. We numerically explore electron acceleration and coronal heating by dissipative electric fields. Methods. Electrons are traced in linear force-free magnetic fields extrapolated from SOHO/MDI magnetograms, endowed with anomalous resistivity (η) in localized dissipation regions where the magnetic twist ∇ × b̂ exceeds a given threshold. Associated with η > 0 is a parallel electric field E = η...

We present results of X-ray spectral and timing analyses of solar-like (spectral types F5–K8) and intermediate-type (B4–F4) Pleiads observed in a 40-ks XMM-Newton EPIC exposure, probing X-ray luminosities (L X) up to a factor 10 fainter than previous studies using the ROSAT PSPC. All 8 solar-like members have " quasi-steady " L X > ∼ 10 29 erg s −1 consistent with the known rotation–activity re...

We present results of an extensive investigation of the physical changes taking place in the emission regions of the LMXB X 1624-490 during strong flaring in observations made using RXTE in 1997 and 1999. Based on the detailed light curve, we propose that the flaring consists of a superposition of X-ray bursts. It is shown that major changes take place in the blackbody emission component, the t...
