Numerous studies have shown that playing violent video games alone increases subsequent aggression. However, social game play is becoming more popular than solo game play, and research suggests cooperative game play is beneficial for players. The current studies explore the effects of cooperative game play on player’s subsequent aggressive behaviors toward video game partners (Experiment 1) and...
In this paper we analyze cooperative games whose characteristic function takes values in a partially ordered linear space. Thus, the classical solution concepts in cooperative game theory have to be revisited and redefined: the core concept, Shapley–Bondareva theorem and the Shapley value are extended for this class of games. The classes of standard, vector-valued and stochastic cooperative gam...
The core of an M-person game, though used already by von Neumann and Morgenstern [15], was first explicitly defined by Gillies [5]. Gillies's definition is restricted to cooperative games with side payments and unrestrictedly transferable utilities(2), but the basic idea is very simple and natural, and appears in many approaches to game theory. We consider a certain set of "outcomes" to a game,...
This work uses the language of game theory to analyze negotiation among automated agents in cooperative domains. However, while game theory generally deals with negotiation in continuous domains and among agents with full information, this research considers discrete domains and the case where agents have only partial information, assumptions of greater interest for artificial intelligence.
This paper proposes a user cooperation stimulating strategy among rational users. The strategy is based on cooperative game theory and enacted in the context of cooperative relay networks. Using the pricing-based mechanism, the system is modeled initially with two nodes and a Base Station (BS). Within this framework, each node is treated as a rational decision maker. To this end, each node can ...
Water resources management in the country has been confronted with conflicts over the last years due to increasing demand on one hand and decreasing renewable water per capita on the other hand. The game theory is one of the scientific methods for resolving conflicts in management. The purpose of this study is to investigate and provide a solution to the conflict resolution of downstream part o...
In this note the concept of solidarity value in cooperative game theory is discussed. The value proposed by Nowak & Radzik is analyzed in terms of shifts of c-diagrams. The value is shown to be equal to the Shapley value for a shifted game. A general approach to a theory of solidarity is developed in terms of ”keep” and ”give” vectors.
Non-cooperative game theory is at its heart a theory of cognition, specifically a theory of how decisions are made. Game theory's leverage is that we can design different payoffs, settings, player arrays, action possibilities, and information structures, and that these differences lead to different strategies, outcomes, and equilibria. It is well-known that, in experimental settings, people do ...
This paper surveys some applications of cooperative game theory to supply chain management. Special emphasis is placed on two important aspects of cooperative games: profit allocation and stability. The paper first describes the construction of the set of feasible outcomes in commonly seen supply chain models, and then uses cooperative bargaining models to find allocations of the profit pie bet...
