Abstract: Inspections are common activities in most preventive maintenance (PM) programs. The models for optimizing the inspection interval using the two-stage delay time have been presented by many researchers. However, the three-stage failure process introduced by Wang is closer to reality corresponding to the actual industrial applications. When the minor defective stage is identified at an ...

We study multiobjective optimization problems arising from chemical process simulation. Interactive multiobjective optimization method NIMBUS, developed at the University of Jyväskylä, is combined with the BALAS process simulator, developed at the Technical Research Center of Finland, in order to provide a new interactive tool for designing chemical processes. Continuous interaction between the...

In this paper, we present a novel approach to joint word sense disambiguation (WSD) and entity linking (EL) that combines a set of complementary objectives in an extensible multi-objective formalism. During disambiguation the system performs continuous optimization to find optimal probability distributions over candidate senses. The performance of our system on nominal WSD as well as EL improve...

Phonological awareness has been shown to play a significant role in language learning. The present study examined the effect of improving pitch identification ability and tonal awareness on Cantonese tone word learning. A group of native English listeners received three days of Cantonese tone training to first improve their tone perception. They then learned the meanings of 15 vocabulary items ...

This study investigated the auditory-visual integration of talker gender in the perception of tone variances. Two experiments were conducted to evaluate how listeners use the information of talker gender to adjust their expectation towards speakers’ pitch range and uncover intended tonal targets in Cantonese tone perception. Results from an audio-only tone identification task showed that tone c...

Changes and adaptations are always necessary after the deployment of a multiagent system (MAS), as well as of any other type of software systems. Some of these changes may be simply perfective and have local impact only. However, adaptive changes to meet changed situations in the operational environment of the MAS may have global impact on the overall design. In this paper, we analyze the issue...

in this paper we introduce continuous $g$-bessel multipliers in hilbert spaces and investigate some of their properties. we provide some conditions under which a continuous $g$-bessel multiplier is a compact operator. also, we show the continuous dependency of continuous $g$-bessel multipliers on their parameters.

it is firstly proved that the multi-input-single-output (miso) fuzzy systems based on interval-valued $r$- and $s$-implications can approximate any continuous function defined on a compact set to arbitrary accuracy.  a formula to compute the lower upper bounds on the number  of interval-valued fuzzy sets needed to achieve a pre-specified approximation  accuracy for an arbitrary multivariate con...

We introduce the concept of continuous transportation task to the context of multi-agent systems. A continuous transportation task is one in which a multi-agent team visits a number of fixed locations, picks up objects, and delivers them to a transportation hub. The goal is to maximize the rate of transportation while the objects are replenished over time . In this extended abstract, we present...
