Karyotype, C-banding and nucleolar organizer regions (NORs) characteristics of nine Rana ridibunda samples collected from Konya (Meram, Beyşehir, Hadim) province were examined. The diploid number of chromosomes (2n) and the fundamental number of chromosome arms (FN) were determined as 26 and 52, respectively. Compression neuropathy of the ulnar nerve at the elbow is commonly caused by constriction at the fibrous cubital tunnel or an anatomical elbow deformity. Many uncommon causes of compression have been described, including Osborne’s band, ulnar nerve subluxation,1 anatomical confines of the cubital tunnel, elbow osteoarthritis, ganglion,2 prominent medial head of triceps,3 and an anconeus epitroc...

An autopsy case of amniotic band syndrome with bilateral epibulbar choristoma is described. The left eye reveals a complex choristoma and the right eye a dermis-like choristoma. Both choristomatous lesions included lenticular tissue suggesting that rupture of the amnion, which is the initial event of amniotic band syndrome, might have occurred at about the fourth week of gestation. Since the ot...

oculo-auriculovertebral dysplasia (goldenhar) is a congenital syndrome. its phenotype differs from craniofacial anomalies to cardiac, vertebral or central nervous system defects. this syndrome is rare and its etiology is not apparent yet. pericentric inversion of chromosome 9 is one of the most common structural balanced chromosomal aberrations with its incidences 15% to 25%. herein we present ...

PURPOSE Banding a rapid palatal expansion (RPE) appliance to the 2 first molars has been proposed as an equivalent to the conventional 4-band RPE appliance. However, the dentoskeletal response to this treatment has not been evaluated. MATERIAL Twenty-eight subjects (aged 8-20 years) who required maxillary expansion were matched by age and randomly assigned to either a 2-band or a 4-band RPE g...

BACKGROUND Constriction of the ductus arteriosus (DA) is initiated at birth by inhibition of O2-sensitive K+ channels in DA smooth muscle cells. Subsequent membrane depolarization and calcium influx through L-type calcium channels initiates functional closure. We hypothesize that Rho-kinase activation is an additional mechanism that sustains DA constriction. METHODS AND RESULTS The effect of ...
