Particulate antigen assemblies in the nanometer range and DNA plasmids are particularly interesting for designing vaccines. We hypothesised that a combination of these approaches could result in a new delivery method of gp160 envelope HIV-1 vaccine which could combine the potency of virus-like particles (VLPs) and the simplicity of use of DNA vaccines. Characterisation of lentivirus-like partic...

We study systems of classical point particles in d-dimensional Eu-clidean space. Using a result of O. Kallenberg we prove that probability measures , which (i) are translation-invariant, (ii) are stationary under the ideal gas dynamics, (iii) have a nite number of particles, energy, and entropy per unit volume, are in fact a convex combination of Poisson measures.

Colloids and polymeric systems constitute building blocks of choice for designing and controlling material properties. One major parameter is therefore the aggregation state of the polymer/particles complexes and its control to achieve desired properties. In this presentation, two examples will be given to illustrate this principle. The first example relates to paper surface hydrophobation, oft...

An experiment set-up is used to study wall deposition rate of particles on a rough surface in a turbulent channel flow. Deposition velocities for three classes of particles, namely, spherical glass particles, irregular shape polymer particles, and fibrous silicon particles are studied. The particle concentration at the test section was measured with the aid of an isokinetic probe in conjunction...

background and purpose: in people wearing dentures, the growth of various candida species under the prosthesis leads to the formation of biofilm, which can play the role of a reservoir for candida and other kinds of microbes. since nano-chitosan particles can cause lasting antimicrobial activity, a more recent approach that utilizes acrylic resins with nano-chitosan particles is proposed. there...

in 2007, research was carried out to determine the type and amount of asbestos fibers in a croatian factory with a long history of making asbestos-containing products.since the 1970s, asbestos fibres have been considered carcinogenic in humans i.e as a known cancer-causing agent. in the environment, asbestos fibres are inactive and naturally resist biodegradation. in time, fibres can only be gr...

silver nano-particles have different biological applications due to their compatibility. chemical methodsusually result in remaining some amounts of toxic reactions on the nano-particles. for this reason, the useof plants as sustainable and accessible resources in preparation of compatible nano-particles has attracteda lot of attention in the recent years. this research investigated the green s...
