Chemical speciation of Pb(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of L-glutamic acid was studied at 303 K in 0–60 vol. % 1,2-propanediol–water mixtures, whereby the ionic strength was maintained at 0.16 mol dm-3. The active forms of the ligand are  3 LH , LH2 and LH–. The predominant detected species were ML, ML2, MLH, ML2H and ML2H2. The trend of the variation in the ...

The electrochemical oxidation and reduction of decamethylferrocene is demonstrated in supercritical carbon dioxide at a macro gold disc electrode at 100 bar and 313 K. Fast mass transport effects were exhibited and the corresponding steady-state voltammetry was observed at high scan rates. A highly lipophilic room temperature ionic liquid that readily dissolved in supercritical CO(2) with aceto...

The cation, anion, and solvent in the title compound, [K(C(18)H(36)N(2)O(6))][Co(C(8)H(12))(C(16)H(10))(2)]·0.5C(5)H(12), are well separated. The pentane solvent mol-ecules are found in channels along [100] and were modeled as disordered over crystallographic inversion centers. Using the mid-points of the coordinated olefins, the angle between the C(py)/C(py)-Co-C(py)/C(py) and the C(cod)/C(cod...

CuO-CeO2 nanocomposite is reported as a green and highly efficient recyclable catalyst for the multicomponent  synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/thiones under solvent-free conditions. The catalyst was synthesized by co-precipitation method and characterized by XRD, BET specific surface area, FESEM and EDS analysis.

The application of dense gases in particle formation processes has attracted great attention due to documented advantages over conventional technologies. In particular, the use of dense CO₂ in the process has been subject of many works and explored in a variety of different techniques. This article presents a review of the current available techniques in use in particle formation processes, foc...

Emissions inventories significantly affect photochemical air quality model performance and the development of effective control strategies. However, there have been very few studies to evaluate their accuracy. Here, to evaluate a volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions inventory, we implemented a combined approach: comparing the ratios of carbon bond (CB)-IV VOC groups to nitrogen oxides (NOx...

A series of copper and cobalt substituted nanospinel ferrites have been synthesized by the hydrothermal method. These compounds were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, EDX, SEM and VSM techniques. All of the synthesized nanospinel ferrites were found to be highly efficient and magnetically recoverable in the solvent-free synthesis of substituted 2,6-(2-hydroxybenzyl)-phenols (trisphenols). A wide ran...

OBJECTIVE This study aims to compare liver function indices (aspartate aminotransferase [AST], alanine aminotransferase [ALT], and gamma glutamyl transferase [GGT]) among males who work with lead, organic solvents, or both lead and organic solvents, under the permissible exposure limit (PEL). METHODS A total of 593 (out of 2,218) male workers who agreed to share their personal health informat...

Photosynthetic pigments from etiolated cucumber (Cucumis sativus var. Beit Alpha improved, Hazera Co., Gedera) cotyledons were extracted by direct immersion of the intact cotyledons into the solvent N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). The solvent is especially efficient when pigment concentration is low; time and tools are saved and the loss of pigment that usually occurs in more complicated extractio...

Collision induced dissociation (CID) of the m/z 479 ion, formed by ESI of Co(NO3)2-CH3OH solutions with either pure (1S,2S)-(+)-N-methylpseudoephedrine or its mixtures with (1S,2R)-(+)- or (1R,2S)-(-)-ephedrine, provides compelling evidence for fast, stereoselective reactions in Co(II)/neurotrasmitter(s) aggregates during solvent evaporation of the ESI droplets.
