The quantitative determination of proteins in biological fluids, using Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250, was evaluated. Compared with the biuret method, the Coomassie Blue G-250 method needs a much shorter time for analysis and has a greater sensitivity. The sensitivity of the dye for albumin is significantly greater than for globulins. The standard curves for the biuret method are more linear th...

The male, larva and puparium of Philornis fasciventris (Wulp) are described for the first time, as well as the larval habit and host association. The material was collected in Yucatan, Mexico in a nest of the turquoise-browed motmot, Eumomota superciliosa (Sandbach) (Coraciformes: Momotidae), first host record for this species. E. superciliosa is also a new host record for Philornis.

The F1 hybrid between a channel catfish female (Ictalurus punctatus) × a blue catfish (I. furcatus) male outperforms both parental species in most environments. However, reproductive isolating mechanisms between the species made it difficult to mass produce the F1 hybrid for commercialization until recent improvements in hormone usage. This study was undertaken to mix the genomes of the 2 speci...

Biosorption is becoming a promising alternative to replace or supplement the present dye removal processes from dye wastewaters. Based on the results of batch studies on biosorption of the dyes on powdered fungal biomass, Aspergillus niger, an immobilised fungal biomass was used in column studies for removal of four dyes, Acid Blue 29, Basic Blue 9, Congo Red and Disperse Red 1 from aqueous sol...

Up to 80% of hydrogen production is currently carried out through CO2 emission-intensive natural gas reforming and coal gasification. Water-splitting electrolysis using renewable energy (green H2) the only process that does not emit greenhouses gases, but it a quite energy-demanding process. To significantly contribute clean transition, critical low-carbon routes can replace current methods exp...
