A general synthesis of various benzo-fused indolizidine alkaloid mimics has been developed. The indolizidine derivatives 8 were prepared via heteroaryl Grignard addition to N-acylpyridinium salts followed by an intramolecular Heck cyclization. Further substitution reactions were developed to demonstrate that heterocycles 8 are good scaffolds for chemical library preparation.

Three new alkaline earth metal based MOFs have been synthesized by using 4,4'-sulfobisbenzoic acid (SBBA) and alkaline earth metal salts M(NO(3))(2), M = Ca, Sr, Ba. These MOFs exhibit interesting structural diversity, variable chemical stability as well as proton conductivity.

Experimental data obtained by Knudsen Effusion Mass Spectrometry and results of quantum-chemical calculations on the structure and thermodynamic properties of gaseous oxyacid salts were systematized.
