micrornas (mirnas) represent a class of small non-coding rna molecules that regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. they play a crucial role in diverse cellular pathways. ionizing radiation (ir) is one of the most important treatment protocols for patients that suffer from cancer and affects directly or indirectly cellular integration. recently it has been discovered that mi...
Many design techniques use a linear grid of square cells: Interesting results can be obtained by using nonlinear grids in which not all cells are square. An example is the Fibonacci grid in which the widths in heights
We investigate how increasing the dimension of the array can help to draw signals on cellular automata. We show the existence of a gap of constructible signals in any dimension. We exhibit two cellular automata in dimension 2 to show that increasing the dimension allows to reduce the number of states required for some constructions.
We developed a novel peptide array format incorporating a photo-cleavable linker for monitoring cellular uptake. Model peptides were successfully immobilised via the photo-cleavable linker onto conventional plates and could be released spatiotemporally using UV irradiation. Incorporation of confocal microscopy allowed for detailed real-time monitoring of cellular internalisation of peptides.
UBLs (ubiquitin-like proteins) are a major class of eukaryotic post-translational modifiers. UBLs are attached to numerous cellular proteins and to other macromolecules, thereby regulating a wide array of cellular processes. In this chapter we highlight a subset of UBLs and describe their regulatory roles in the cell.

We demonstrate a new method for creating synthetic tissue that has the potential to capture the three-dimensional (3D) complexity of a multi-cellular organism with submicron precision. Using multiple laminar fluid flows in a microfluidic network, we convey cells to an assembly area where multiple, time-shared optical tweezers are used to organize them into a complex array. The cells are then en...
With the arrival of 5G wireless communication systems, there has been increased interest in exploring higher frequency bands above 6 GHz, up to millimeter-wave frequencies. Radio wave propagation at these frequencies can suffer from substantial Doppler impairments. The linear dependency shifts with carrier make them challenging use high-mobility cellular scenarios. Therefore, power spectrum (DP...
