ABSTRACT The coordination polymer [Ti(OiPr)3(OOCCH2CH2CH2C3N2H3)] n was prepared from 4-(imidazol-1-yl)butyric acid and titanium isopropoxide. The structure of the compound is remarkable, as the carboxylate group is coordinated in a chelating manner and no dimerization of the Ti(OiPr)3 groups through OR bridges was observed. The title compound, C12H18N4O2, crystallizes in the zwitterionic form with protonation at the N atom of the piperazine ring bearing the carboxylate group. The piperazine ring adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation. In the crystal, N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed, forming chains along [010].
