A snubber for a buck-boost converter is presented. The proposed snubber uses a resistor, inductor and capacitor. This circuit is capable of resetting the transformer, as well as eliminating leakage inductance voltage spike across the power switch. The proposed snubber eliminates the losses due to switching by freewheeling action through the diode.
This paper presents a novel matrix converter based topology with less number of semiconductor switches. The proper switching sequence of matrix converter is used to drive BLDC motor directly from single phase without dc link capacitor. A matrix converter fed BLDC motor is simulated in MATLAB. The proposed technique is simple to implement and cost effective. Keywords— Permanent magnet (PM), Brus...
─The suitability of a single-stage ac-dc buck-boost converter for low-voltage applications is investigated. Indepth discussion and analysis of the converter’s operating principle, basic relationships that govern converter steadystate operation, and details of the necessary control structures needed to comply with the grid code are provided. The validity of the proposed system is confirmed using...
A method and system are proposed for a transient-free commutation of a resonant-mode array of inductors. A single capacitor is used to tune the entire array, and triacs are used to commutate the inductors. To avoid the transients, the tuning capacitor is electrically locked when it stores the whole energy of the excited circuit. This prevents the capacitor from discharge during the fast, 0.1 ms...
A capacitive wireless power transfer (C-WPT) system uses an electric field to transmit power through a physical isolation barrier which forms a pair of ac link capacitors between the metal plates. However, the physical dimension and low dielectric constant of the interface medium severely limit the effective link capacitance to a level comparable to the main switch output capacitance of the tra...
Abstract — A circuit technique that reduces switching losses of the pulse-width-modulated boost converter is described. The losses are reduced by using a new switch cell that consists of an inductor, a diode, a capacitor, a main switch, and an auxiliary switch. This technique reduces the reverse-recovery-related losses of the rectifier with the inductor that controls the di/dt rate of the recti...
