Surgical approaches for medially oriented internal carotid artery aneurysms include the ipsilateral pterional approach, the contralateral pterional approach, the interhemispheric approach, and the interhemispheric-subfrontal approach. In the ipsilateral pterional approach, the internal carotid artery obstructs direct visualization of the aneurysmal neck. In the contralateral pterional approach,...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Effects of blood flow modification by flow diverters are observed to lead often to aneurysm thrombosis and reverse remodeling. For this process, to further understand the potential roles of intra-aneurysmal blood pressure changes and aneurysm morphologies, 23 patients were studied by numeric simulation. MATERIALS AND METHODS 3D imaging of aneurysms of different sizes an...

Secondary aneurysmal bone cyst in fibrous dysplasia is exceedingly rare, especially in the skull and particularly in the frontal bone. We present a case of aneurysmal bone cyst concomitant with fibrous dysplasia in the frontal bone in a 15-year-old male patient presenting with headache and euphoria with an uncharacteristic imaging appearance and treated successfully by total resection.

Transcranial Doppler sonography shows potential as a noninvasive technique for long-term follow-up of treated intracranial saccular aneurysms. This technical note describes a color Doppler artifact related to microcoil architecture that might represent a potential pitfall in transcranial Doppler sonographic evaluation of aneurysmal cavity thrombosis, since it may be wrongly interpreted as resid...

In a recent communication Lichtenstein (1950) described in detail 8 cases of1 aneurysmal bone cysta new pathological entity. He and Jaffe first discovered the lesion in 1942 while reviewing their material pertaining to solitary unicamera bone cyst, and, between 1942 and 1948, they came across ' a dozen or more additional cases of the same lesion According to Lichtenstein, aneurysmal bone cyst i...

Copeptin is a peptide derived from pre-provasospression along with arginine vasospressin. In the setting of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), elevated serum copeptin levels correlate with vasospasm, inpatient mortality, mortality at 1 year, and poor functional outcome at 1 year. The potential role of serum copeptin levels in the management of patients with aneurysmal SAH is promising an...

Vein of Galen malformation (VGAM) results from an aneurysmal aberration with an arteriovenous shunting of blood. Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformations are the most frequent arteriovenous malformations in infants and fetuses. The congenital malformation develops during weeks 6-11 of fetal development. Infants often die from high-output congestive heart failure.

BACKGROUND Implantation of self-expanding stents from the parent artery into the sac of a bifurcation aneurysm is regularly used to facilitate endovascular coil occlusion with the so-called waffle cone technique (WCT). Self-expanding aneurysm bridging stents like Solitaire AB, can be used; however, bifurcation devices like pCONus and pCANvas are especially designed for WCT. These devices provid...

Embolic coiling is one of the most effective treatments for cerebral aneurysms (CAs), largely due to the hemodynamic modifications that the treatment effects in the aneurysmal environment. However, coiling can have very different hemodynamic outcomes in aneurysms with different geometries. Previous work in the field of biofluid mechanics has demonstrated on a general level that geometry is a dr...

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is a severe neurological disease that characterized by acute onset, multiple complications and poor prognosis. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between expression level micro ribonucleic acid-30c in plasma prognosis patients with aneurysmal hemorrhage. A total 181 were prospectively selected as subjects. Modified Rankin scale used evaluate...
