conclusions every 10 μg/m3 increase in the concentration of the pollutant no2 in the studied cities led to increase in the rr of myocardial infarction, cardiovascular diseases, and obstructive pulmonary disease by 0.4%, 0.2%, and 0.4%, respectively, in 2011. higher rr value can depict mismanagement in urban air quality. the lower level of rr value might be achieved if some control strategies fo...

Results Our results shows that these patients end expiratory volume (EEV) increased by 14 +/0.4 % compared to quiet breathing during maximum exercise before surgery (P < 0.002). This dynamic hyperinflation or air trapping during exercise was corrected after surgery. Postoperatively their EEV decreased during maximum exercise by 2.3 +/1.4 % at 5 months respectively (P 0.001). The end inspiratory...

IEEE 802.16 is a standard for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) air interface. 802.16e supports mobile broadband wireless access, which is an additional feature over its predecessors, which support fixed wireless access. Binary Convolutional Turbo Coding (CTC) is used as mandatory Forward Error Correction method in 802.16e. In this paper the performance of a simple and efficient optional coding s...

This paper uses Monte Carlo simulations to calculate the Spencer-Attix water/medium stopping-power ratios (sw, med) for the dosimetry of scanned proton pencil beams. It includes proton energies from 30 to 350 MeV and typical detection materials such as air (ionization chambers), radiochromic film, gadolinium oxysulfide (scintillating screens), silicon and lithium fluoride. Track-ends and partic...

The parallel-plate free-air ionization chambers are used for X-rays air-kerma rate standards at National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). The diaphragms are used to free-air chambers to fix the air volume of ionizing region in chambers. It means that absolute air-kerma rates are defined for collimated x-ray beams, beca...

The next generation air fluorescence experiments studying cosmic rays near 10 eV require significantly better atmospheric monitoring than the original Fly’s Eye experiment in order to reconstruct accurately the energy of the cosmic rays. In this paper we study the time variation of the vertical profile of the atmosphere. For the study we use the twice daily radiosonde data from the Salt Lake Ci...

We have carried out convenient and highly sensitive radon measurement using absorption to means of a detecting active charcoal and a liquid scintillation spectrometer, Packard Pico-rad System. The α and β radioactivities of its decay products originated from radon gas absorbed detector exposed to air were measured. Its detection limit is 1.7Bq/m in air with an accuracy of about 10% on 200 minit...

This paper presents an overview of the latest version of a MODTRAN4-based atmospheric correction (or "compensation") algorithm developed by Spectral Sciences, Inc. and the Air Force Research Laboratory for spectral imaging sensors. New upgrades to the algorithm include automated aerosol retrieval, cloud masking, and speed improvements. In addition, MODTRAN4 has been updated to correct recently ...

In the Metrology Department at ININ, there is a Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory SSDL, since 1987 it has an Alpha-Beta calibration room. In this room there are: the Beta Secondary Standard BSS Nr. 86 with traceability to the primary laboratory Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt PTB and a reference class extrapolation chamber EC, which had been accredited as Mexican National Standard f...
