In Egypt, vaccination against pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus was required of pilgrims departing for the 2009 Hajj. A survey of 551 pilgrims as they returned to Egypt found 542 (98.1% [weighted]) reported receiving the vaccine; 6 (1.0% [weighted]) were infected with influenza virus A (H3N2) but none with pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus.

A 33-primer multiplex PCR-based reverse line blot (mPCR/RLB) assay was developed to identify Streptococcus agalactiae serotypes and surface protein antigen genes simultaneously. It was evaluated by using 551 clinical isolates. The mPCR/RLB assay was more sensitive than conventional serotyping, especially for protein antigen typing, but otherwise the results correlated well.

Over a 7 year period, 551 patients were investigated for the presence of a chromosome 22q11 deletion by fluorescence in situ hybridisation. Analysis of the presenting features of the 67 individuals with this chromosome deletion permitted us to devise guidelines to facilitate early diagnosis.

In [D. Diener, SIAM J. Numer. Anal., 27 (1990), pp. 543–551], a conjecture on the dimension of the bivariate spline space Sr 2r( ) over the Morgan–Scott triangulation was posed. In this paper, it is proved that the conjecture should be modified for all even r > 2.

One thousand normal Chinese full term neonates underwent prospective ultrasonography examination. Asymmetry of size between the right and left lateral ventricle was observed in a similar proportion of boys: 257/551 (47%) and girls: 183/449 (41%). The mode of delivery did not significantly influence the occurrence of ventricular asymmetry. We propose four different patterns of asymmetry.
