PURPOSE Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) is a new radiologic imaging modality. For the first time, a commercial preclinical scanner is installed. The goal of this study was to establish a workflow between MPI and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners for a complete in vivo examination of a mouse and to generate the first co-registered in vivo MR-MP images. MATERIALS AND METHODS The in vivo...

BACKGROUND American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association appropriate use criteria recommend performing stress myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) for intermediate- to high-risk patients presenting with syncope but not for low-risk patients. However, there are limited data to support these recommendations. We investigated the yield of stress MPI for the evaluation of syncope in patien...

The Open MPI implementation provides a high performance MPI-2 implementation for a wide variety of platforms. Open MPI has recently been ported to the Cray XT3 platform. This paper discusses the challenges of porting and describes important implementation decisions. A comparison of performance results between Open MPI and the Cray supported implementation of MPICH2 are also presented.

Parallel Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) applications often exhibit irregular structure and dynamic load patterns. Many such applications have been developed using MPI. Incorporating dynamic load balancing techniques at the application-level involves significant changes to the design and structure of applications. On the other hand, traditional run-time systems for MPI do not suppor...

False-positive findings with myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) have frequently been identified in the presence of left bundle branch block (LBBB) and tend to lower the accuracy of MPI in individuals with normal coronary angiographs. Pharmacologic stress is recognized as the preferred method for MPI in patients with LBBB. In contrast, very few studies have evaluated the effect of right bundle b...

This document is being prepared to serve as a reference for the tutorial with the same title that will be offered during EuroPVM/MPI 2009 in Espoo, September 7, 2009. In this tutorial, we will mostly focus on the topic of formal dynamic verification [1] of MPI programs using our tool ISP. There will also be a short session on shared memory program verification using our tool Inspect. Section 4 ...

The Message Passing Interface (MPI) is one of the most portable high-performance computing (HPC) programming models, with platform-optimized implementations typically delivered with new HPC systems. Therefore, for distributed services requiring portable, high-performance, user-level network access, MPI promises to be an attractive alternative to custom network portability layers, platform-speci...

Factor analyses to create the Multidimensional Pain Inventory (MPI) warrant further examination due to small sample size, the use of separate factor analyses for each MPI section, and lack of evidence for the replicability of the factor model. The present study randomly assigned 972 respondents to one of three samples. Study 1 used data from Sample 1 (n = 452) to examine the replicability of th...

In this paper we discuss the design and use of a fault-tolerant MPI (FT-MPI) that handles process failures in a way beyond that of the original MPI static process model. FTMPI allows the semantics and associated modes of failures to be explicitly controlled by an application via a modified functionality within the standard MPI 1.2 API. Given is an overview of the FT-MPI semantics, architecture ...
