I present a short overview of the NLO QCD calculations available for deep-inelastic production of heavy quarks.

We present a review of measurements of α S. The individual measurements are discussed and intermediate averages for classes of related measurements are found. The final average is built using the intermediate values. Correlations are treated consistently. The ICHEP 2006 world average is α S (m Z 0) = 0.1175 ± 0.0011 dominated by the recent result from lattice QCD.

In the last few years, lattice QCD has made a dramatic progress in understanding the physics of hadrons containing heavy quarks, from the first principle. This review summarises the major achievements.

We present NLO QCD results for Wbb̄ and Zbb̄ production at the Tevatron including full bottomquark mass effects. We study the impact of QCD corrections on both total cross-section and invariant mass distribution of the bottom-quark pair. Kubo's formula relates bulk viscosity to the retarded Green's function of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. Using low energy theorems of QCD for the latter we derive the formula which relates the bulk viscosity to the energy density and pressure of hot matter.
