In this paper, we introduce a new method for elliptical object identification. The proposed method adopts a hybrid scheme which consists of Eigen values of covariance matrices, Circular Hough transform and Bresenham’s raster scan algorithms. In this approach we use the fact that the large Eigen values and small Eigen values of covariance matrices are associated with the major and minor axial le...
In our previous paper[1], we described a CT layer segmentation approach capable of automatically segmenting internal planar layers from volumetric data. In this paper, we extend our work to the segmentation of curved surfaces, e.g. cylindrical surfaces, by using a novel reduced dimension randomized Hough transformation. First subvoxel features (edges with polarities indicating rising or falling...
4h.,nas'c'I his paper describes a divide-and-conquer Hough transtornr technique for detecting a given number of straight edges or lines in an image, This technique is designed for implementation on a pyramid of processors, and requires only O(log a) computational steps for an image of size n x,t ords : pyramids, Hough transform, divide-and-conquer. The Hough transform is a technique for detecti...
The straight-line Hough Transform using normal parameterization with a continuous voting kernel is considered. It transforms the collinearity detection problem to a problem of nding the global maximum of a two dimensional function above a domain in the parameter space. The principle is similar to robust regression using xed scale M-estimation. Unlike standard M-estimation procedures the Hough T...
The Generalized Hough Transform is a technique used to detect arbitrary objects in a given image. This technique is known for its capacity of absorption of distortions as well as noises. In the present paper, we describe an approach showing the efficiency of the use of the Generalized Hough Transform to recognize Arabic printed characters in their different shapes.
A method for locating underground pipes from a pulse radar image is presented. The method employs the Laplacian of Gaussian filter to extract edges and employs the Hough transform to determine the depth of the pipes. A preliminary experiment showed its ability to detect deeply buried pipes with weak signal echoes. key words: radar image, Hough transform, LoG filter, underground locating
