AIM The aim was to study the polymorphism of exon 2 and exon 3 of growth hormone (GH) gene, to test the polymorphic variants for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and to investigate association of these polymorphisms with chest girth and paunch girth in Sirohi and Barbari breeds of goat. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 80 kids involving forty each of Sirohi and Barbari breeds of goat were included ...

No proper statistical test is available for the evaluation of deviation of a single homozygous genotype from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) proportion. We propose a 1-d.f. chi2-test. The power of the proposed test is favorable compared to existing HWE testing procedures. The applications of this test are discussed.

Genotype polymorphism studies at nine short tandem repeat (STR) loci (D3S1358, FGA, TH01, D7S820, VWA, CSF1PO, D5S818, D13S317, TPOX) were carried out in two Ethnic Groups (Tu, Sala) living in Qinhai, a North-West province of China. All loci were in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P = 0.05).

I show that fine-scale localization of a survival-related locus can be accomplished on the basis of deviations from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and linkage disequilibrium at closely linked marker loci. The method is based on chi(2)-tests and they can be performed for age-specific samples of alive (or dead) individuals, as for combined samples of alive and dead individuals.

groups with asthma. Thus the scientist must weigh the advantages of performing genetic studies in small, historically isolated populations with the potential disadvantage of being unable to eventually generalize the studies’ results. Testing genetic markers for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium is an important issue in genetic association studies. The HardyWeinberg package offers the classical autosomal tests for equilibrium, functions for power computation and for the simulation of marker data under equilibrium and disequilibrium. Recently, specific frequentist and Bayesian tests for X-chromosomal markers have been developed and ...
