We report the complete genome sequence of an Indian field isolate of classical swine fever virus (CSFV) belonging to predominant subgenotype 1.1 prevalent in India. This report will help in understanding the molecular diversity of CSFV strains circulating worldwide and to select and develop a suitable vaccine candidate for classical swine fever (CSF) control in India.
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) subgenotype 1e was isolated for the first time in Slovenia in 2006. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of BVDV-1e, strain SLO/2407/2006. The published genome will increase our understanding of the molecular characteristics of the BVDV-1e strains circulating in Europe.
BACKGROUND Newcastle disease virus (NDV) can cause serious damage to the reproductive tracts of egg-laying hens and leads to egg production and quality reduction. However, the mechanism of severe pathological damage in the oviducts of egg-laying hens after NDV infection has not been fully elucidated. In this study, the correlation between the primary pathological lesions and viral load in the o...
By using molecular surveillance of hepatitis A virus, we characterized for the first time a subgenotype IB imported case in Argentina, a country with universal vaccination since 2005. The case was a crew member of a cruise ship. We consider this a case alert because of its multiple implications.
We determined the complete genome sequences of both biotypes of a virus pair of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) subgenotype 1k. The viruses were isolated from a persistently infected calf suffering from mucosal disease. Compared to the noncytopathic biotype, the cytopathic biotype contains an insertion of 84 nucleotides and 22 nucleotide changes.
Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a virulent Newcastle disease virus (vNDV) strain, duck/Pakistan/Lahore/AW-123/2015, isolated from apparently healthy laying ducks (Anas platyrhynchos domesticus) from the province of Punjab, Pakistan. The virus has a genome length of 15,192 nucleotides and is classified as member of subgenotype VIIi, class II.
We report the complete genome sequences of two classical swine fever virus strains (JJ9811 and YI9908). Both belong to subgenotype 3.2. Strain JJ9811 causes mild symptoms and strain YI9908 causes acute symptoms. The sequences were 95.7% homologous at the nucleotide level and 95.6% homologous at the amino acid level.
To our knowledge, our study is the first to report the whole-genome sequence of an ostrich-origin Newcastle disease virus (NDV) isolate, abbreviated as Ostrich/SX-01/06. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that this isolate belongs to the subgenotype c in class II. The identification of the complete genome will provide useful information regarding ostrich diseases, especially NDV.
Hepatitis B virus genotype C (HBV/C) has the largest number of subgenotypes (C1-C16) that vary with geography and isolates. HBV/C prevails in Southeast Asia (C1, C5-C16), East Asia (C2), Oceania (C3), and Australia (C4). Suitable reference strains for different subgenotypes could greatly facilitate research into HBV/C, but unfortunately they are scarce. We retrieved 974 HBV/C full-length sequen...
INTRODUCTION Hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotypes, replication status, and mutations have been associated with the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Our aim was to study the distribution and HCC-related viral properties of HBV genotypes/subgenotypes in Mainland China. METHODS A multistage cluster probability sampling method was applied to select 81,775 participants between 1 and 59 years a...
