Fecal viral concentrations of 40 patients infected with norovirus genogroup GII.4 correlated with diarrhea duration and frequency of vomiting. Higher viral concentration and older age were independently associated with prolonged diarrhea (> or =4 days). These findings provide information on the pathogenesis and transmission of norovirus infections.
Increased train traffic in the city of Semarang caused an increase vibration exposure to residents and buildings that are around railroad. Train vibrations have a large influence on comfort, human health building structures. The location this research data collection three places, namely Bulu Lor Settlement, Tawang Station area Tlogomulyo Village, reason was chosen is because route busiest so i...
The 1811–1812 New Madrid, central United States, earthquake sequence included at least three events with magnitudes estimated at well above M 7.0. I discuss evidence that the sequence also produced at least three substantial triggered events well outside the New Madrid Seismic Zone, most likely in the vicinity of Cincinnati, Ohio. The largest of these events is estimated to have a magnitude in ...
We present an interactive visualization for the exploration of global hurricane tracks data, collected during 1851 to 2009. Linked perspectives with smooth interaction are provided, which enable powerful data selection and inspection.
‘‘Best tracks’’ are National Hurricane Center (NHC) poststorm analyses of the intensity, central pressure, position, and size of Atlantic and eastern North Pacific basin tropical and subtropical cyclones. This paper estimates the uncertainty (average error) for Atlantic basin best track parameters through a survey of the NHC Hurricane Specialists who maintain and update the Atlantic hurricane d...
BACKGROUND Norovirus is a common virus that causes acute gastroenteritis worldwide, but a monitoring system for norovirus is unavailable in China. OBJECTIVE We aimed to identify norovirus epidemics through Internet surveillance and construct an appropriate model to predict potential norovirus infections. METHODS The norovirus-related data of a selected outbreak in Jiaxing Municipality, Zhej...
Subglacial floods (jökulhlaups) are well documented as occurring beneath present day glaciers and ice caps. In addition, it is known that massive floods have occurred from ice-dammed lakes proximal to the Laurentide ice sheet during the last ice age, and it has been suggested that at least one such flood below the waning ice sheet was responsible for a dramatic cooling event some 8000 years ago...
We study the traffic of two types of molecular motors using the two-species asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) with periodic boundary conditions and with attachment and detachment of particles. We determine characteristic properties such as motor densities and currents by simulations and analytical calculations. For motors with different unbinding probabilities, mean-field theory gives ...
This paper presents a novel framework that links imprecision (through a fuzzy approach) and stochastic uncertainty (through a Bayesian approach) in estimating flood probabilities from historical flood information and systematic flood discharge data. The method exploits the linguistic characteristics of historical source material to construct membership functions, which may be wider or narrower,...
Amit Kumar Jain Abstract— Presently the world has enormous advancement in science and technology the topic considered here is just a drop out of an ocean of knowledge. Higher product quality, better reliability, better availability of plants, optimization of cost and efficient working of boilers is the chief concern now a days. Generally the production can be increased by the efficient use of b...
