Malaria is a disease caused by plasmodium parasites transmitted through the bites of female anopheles-mosquito that infect human red blood cell (RBC). The standard malaria diagnosis based on manual examination thick and thin smear, which heavily depends microscopist experience. This study proposed system can identify life stages falciparum in RBC. image preprocessing process was done illuminati...

Precise estimation of the forest structural parameters supports decision makers for sustainable management of the forests. Moreover, timber volume estimation and consequently the economic value of a forest can be derived based on the structural parameter quantization. Mean age and height of the trees are two important parameters for estimating the productivity of the plantations. This research ...

Three-dimensional textural and volumetric image analysis holds great potential in understanding the image data produced by multi-photon microscopy. In this paper, an algorithm that quantitatively analyzes the texture and the morphology of vasculature in engineered tissues is proposed. The investigated 3D artificial tissues consist of Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC) embedded in co...

Striped stem-borer (SSB) infestation is one of the most serious sources of damage to rice growth. A rapid and non-destructive method of early SSB detection is essential for rice-growth protection. In this study, hyperspectral imaging combined with chemometrics was used to detect early SSB infestation in rice and identify the degree of infestation (DI). Visible/near-infrared hyperspectral images...

Breast cancer is a major cause of cancer deaths among women. Early detection plays an important role for improving breast cancer prognosis. Mammography is used to demonstrate the presence of breast cancer and to identify the size and location of tumor cells. Texture analysis refers to a procedure or a model that characterizes the spatial variation within the image by extracting information. In ...

In this work we present a quantitative study on different regions of periapical images with a series of textural features, extracted using cooccurrence matrices; those features are used for a pattern recognition analysis by means of an artificial neural network. The obtained results show that it is possible to recognize in an objective way changes in bone pattern.

The use of remotely sensed data for land-cover categorization has been well demonstrated in recent years. l In addition to the use of conventional methods, such as windshield surveys and lowand high-altitude aerial photographs, satellite data are being employed by several planning agencies for creating land-use and land-cover data bases to assist in decisionmaking. Human interpretation of aircr...

A mobile Android application that can automatically recognize wood species from a low quality mobile phone photo under varying illumination conditions is presented. The wood recognition is based on the Markovian, spectral, and illumination invariant textural features. The method performance was verified on a wood database, which contains veneers from sixty-six varied European and exotic wood sp...

Biometric signature verification, nowadays an important technique to recognize human identity. The accuracy of signature verification has lot of scope for improvement. In this paper, we propose an offline signature verification using fusion of Directional and Textural features. The Image is preprocessed and divided into sub-bands by applying DWT. The Directional featuresGradient, Coherence, Ori...
