T-2 toxin is the most acutely toxic trichothecene mycotoxin: it inhibits protein, DNA and RNA synthesis. The main goal of this study was to evaluate the rate of DNA damage caused by T-2 toxin in porcine mononuclear cells in increasing concentrations (0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 μmol) and after two different incubation periods (24 and 42 h). The lowest concentration caused DNA damage and about 50% of the t...

The trichothecene mycotoxin T-2 toxin is a common contaminant of food and feed and is also present in processed cereal derived products. Cytotoxic effects of T-2 toxin and its main metabolite HT-2 toxin are already well described with apoptosis being a major mechanism of action. However, effects on the central nervous system were until now only reported rarely. In this study we investigated the...

Dropa T., Hajšlová J., Lancová K., Burešová I. (2014): The effect of bread-making process on contents of key trichothecene mycotoxins: deoxynivalenol, T-2, and HT-2 toxins. Czech J. Food Sci., 32: 570–577. The fate of trichothecene mycotoxins deoxynivalenol (DON), T-2 and HT-2 toxins during the bread preparation and baking was investigated in order to obtain information about the influence of p...

Four strains of Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens did not degrade aflatoxin B1. Acetyl T-2 toxin, T-2 toxin, HT-2 toxin, deoxynivalenol, diacetoxyscirpenol, verrucarin A, zearalenone, and ochratoxin A did not affect the specific growth rate of B. fibrisolvens CE51 significantly, but all were degraded to greater or lesser extents. Breakdown products were produced as a result of deacetylation reactions.

Growing evidence has revealed the deleterious influence of environmental and food contaminants on puberty onset and development in both animals and children, provoking an increasing health concern. T-2 toxin, a naturally-produced Type A trichothecene mycotoxin which is frequently found in cereal grains and products intended for human and animal consumption, has been shown to impair the reproduc...

An inter-laboratory collaborative study was performed to evaluate the performance of Biochip Array Technology (BAT) Myco 7 method. The is a method which simultaneously and quantitatively detects 20 mycotoxins including aflatoxins B 1 , 2 G ochratoxin A, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, fumonisin 3 T-2 HT-2 toxin. BAT collaboratively evaluated by nine government private Association American Feed Con...

Mice injected intravenously with 1 X 10(9) sheep red blood cells (SRBC) showed no delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) response to SRBC and were unresponsive to DTH induction by sc injection of an optimal dose of SRBC. However, when treated with T-2 toxin, a mycotoxin, 2 days after the iv injection, mice became to show significant DTH response and to be responsive to the DTH induction by the sc ...

Administration of dietary T-2 toxin in 120 days old broiler chicks led to significant lower body weights and increase in feed conversion ratio from 2nd week of age. There was significant reduction in haemoglobin and packed cell volume in T-2 toxicated birds at 4 ppm level only. The other hematological parameters like TEC, TLC and absolute leucocyte count did not showed any variation due to T-2 ...
