コマッコウKogia brevicepsは全世界の温帯から熱帯域に生息するハクジラ類である．日本沿岸では 本州の太平洋側でしばしばストランディング（座礁・漂着・混獲）報告があるが，北海道沿岸では現在まで6個体しか報告されていない．また，日本周辺海域における食性に関する報告は見当たらない．本研究では，2011～14年に北海道太平洋側沿岸にストランディングしたコマッコウ3個体の胃内容物を調査した．その結果，8科10種の頭足類，および1種の魚類が出現した．どの個体もテカギ イカ科イカ類を摂餌していた．次いで，3個体中2個体から，ホタルイカWatasenia scintillans，ヒカリテカギイカGonatus pyros，ツクシユウレイイカChiroteuthis calyxが出現した．個体数組成では，種不明テカギイカ科イカ類Gonatidae spp.で73.0%となり，次いでホタルイ...
