bioremoval and bioreduction activities of hydrocarbon (diesel) isolation from environmental samples were studied by the activity of biosurfactant production, and calculating emulsification index, gravimetric, and ftir analysis along with the estimation of bacterial biomass. sample from soil near petrol, diesel pumps and water sample from thesjaswini river near padannakad, kasaragod, kerala, ind...
bacteremia continues to result in significant morbidity and mortality, particularly among neonates. there is scarce data on neonatal bacteremia in among iranian neonates. in this study, we determined neonatal bacteremia isolates and their antibiotic resistance pattern in neonatal insensitive care unit at beasat hospital, sanandaj, iran. during one year, all neonates admitted to the nicu were ev...
staphylococcus aureus, as one of the main agentsfor hospital infections,is considered as highly important because they show resistance to a wide range of antibiotics.resistance to selective antibiotics such as vancomycin is a serious problemin the medical community; thus it seems rational to use alternative substances for treating these bacteria.the aim of this study isto investigate the preval...
A laboratory is a place or room carrying out research, learning, and experiment activities equipped with various equipment materials supporting the work. This study aims to identify bacteria on nutrient agar plates at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya’s Microbiology Laboratory. uses observational research non-probability sampling technique cross-sectional design. Bacterial samples were take...
PheP, a putative amino acid permease in Staphylococcus aureus, contributes to starvation survival under glucose-limiting conditions and virulence. A pheP mutation led to poor growth after microaerobic or anaerobic incubation on pig serum agar, which was recovered by phenylalanine addition. Genetic complementation of pheP restored growth and starvation survival.

Objective Zataria is one of the native plants of Iran which is widely used for the treatment of diseases among Iranians. In this study, we investigated the antimicrobial effects of Zataria essential oil on the skin bacteria in rats. Methods Bacterial strains were isolated from the skin of 6 wistar rats and the antimicrobial effects of Zataria essential oil were evaluated by disk diffusion and ...
Transformation of a type I SCCmec element into Staphylococcus aureus yielded highly oxacillin-resistant transformants with a reduced growth rate. Faster-growing variants could again be selected at the cost of reduced resistance levels, demonstrating an inverse correlation between oxacillin resistance levels and growth rate.
Bactericidal/permeability-increasing protein (BPI) inhibited growth of cell wall-deficient Acholeplasma laidlawii and L forms of certain strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. However, the same strains of S. aureus and S. pyogenes with intact cell walls were not susceptible to the growth-inhibitory effects of BPI.
Our studies indicate that sulfapyridine modifies the normal metabolism of a bacterium. Coenzymes inhibit the effect of sulfapyridine on the growth of staphylococcus in Knight's medium. Nicotinic acid does not interfere with the action of sulfapyridine under the same conditions. The possible relation of sulfapyridine, nicotinic acid, and coenzymes in relation to bacterial growth is discussed.
