that g* has the same derived algebra as g itself and that every ideal in g is also an ideal in t*. Let g be any algebraic Lie algebra. Denote by b the radical of g (i.e., the largest solvable ideal in g) and by n the largest ideal of g composed only of nilpotent matrices. By Levi's theorem, g is the direct sum of t and of a semi-simple subalgebra J. It can be proved that f is the direct sum of ...

20 To 50 percent of the neonates with a very low birth weight (VLBW:< 1500 g) suffer from White Matter Damage (leukomalacia). Nowadays the diagnosis of WMD is still solely dependent on the visual interpretation by an expert. A need for a (semi-) computerized way of segmenting the affected regions, in order to make quantitative measurements as an aid to the subjective diagnosis, is felt. Applyin...

1 The time discretization in weather and climate models introduces truncation errors that limit 2 the accuracy of the simulations. Recent work has yielded a method for reducing the amplitude 3 errors in leapfrog integrations from first-order to fifth-order. This improvement is achieved by 4 replacing the Robert–Asselin filter with the RAW filter and using a linear combination of the 5 unfiltere...

We present a simple q-gram based semi-index, which allows to look for a pattern typically only in a small fraction of text blocks. Several space-time tradeoffs are presented. Experiments on Pizza & Chili datasets show that our solution is up to three orders of magnitude faster than the Claude et al. [4] semi-index at a comparable space usage.

Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) which have been deployed in computer networks to detect a wide variety of attacks are suffering how to manage of a large number of triggered alerts. Thus, reducing false alarms efficiently has become the most important issue in IDS. In this paper, we introduce the semi-supervised learning mechanism to build an alert filter, which will reduce up to 85% false al...

In operation research, there is no single method available for solving all optimization problems. Hence a number of techniques have been developed for solving different types of optimization problems. Optimization is the act of obtaining the best result under given circumstances. The ultimate goal of optimization is either to minimize the efforts required or to maximize the desired benefit [5]....

A consistent formulation of the G-equation approach for LES is developed. The unfiltered G-equation is valid only at the instantaneous flame front location. Hence, in a filtering procedure applied to derive the appropriate LES equation, only the instantaneous unfiltered flame surface can be considered. A new filter kernel is provided, which averages along the flame surface. The filter kernel is...

We propose a robust estimation algorithm for tracking the location and dynamic motion of a mobile unit in a cellular network. The underlying mobility model is a dynamic linear system driven by a discrete command process that determines the mobile unit’s acceleration. The command process is modeled as a semi-Markov process over a finite set of acceleration levels. Previous approaches to mobility...
