A case is reported of ureteral obstruction due to retained corpus luteum. The patient had previously undergone a hysterectomy and salpingo-ovariectomy with incomplete removal of ovarian tissue on both sides. The ureteral obstruction was treated by the excision of the mass and the reimplantation of the obstructed ureter into the bladder hitched to psoas muscle.

OPINION STATEMENT In women at increased risk of developing ovarian cancer, risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy is the only intervention that has been shown to decrease mortality from ovarian cancer and is the standard of care for risk reduction. Prophylactic salpingectomy with delayed oophorectomy should be considered in high-risk premenopausal women in the setting of a clinical trial.

A case of massive hematometra with a bicornuate uterus in a 14-year-old mentally handicapped girl complicated by vaginal agenesis and absent cervix is presented. She was managed by abdominal hysterectomy and right salpingo-oophorectomy that included the ovarian cystadenoma. The left ovary was conserved.
