Carpal tunnel syndrome is common during pregnancy and is considered to have a short and benign course. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs most frequently in third trimester. Patients are usually managed conservatively; symptoms improve after delivery and do not require surgical intervention. We report an interesting case of pregnancy-associated carpal tunnel syndrome in a 23-year-old woman, with det...
Thirty patients with classical or definite rheumatoid disease (RD) with foot pain and radiologically demonstrated erosions were studied electrodiagnostically to ascertain the frequency of the tarsal tunnel syndrome and peripheral neuropathy. Four patients (13.3%) had evidence of the tarsal tunnel syndrome. The electrical abnormalities were mild and unassociated with specific clinical features. ...
Sensory conduction velocities of the median nerve were studied from digit to palm and from palm to wrist in normal subjects and in patients with the carpal tunnel syndrome. Definite slowing was noted in the palm to wrist segment, even in the early carpal tunnel syndrome. It was noted that 37% of normal women over 40 years of age had electrophysiological evidence of the carpal tunnel syndrome.
We report three cases of Raynaud's syndrome with digital ischaemic ulceration, in association with carpal tunnel syndrome. In all cases, the aetiology of the Raynaud's syndrome was probably unrelated to the nerve compression. However, symptoms were worse on the side of the median nerve lesion in two patients and worse on the side with the most severe nerve dysfunction in the third; symptoms wer...
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common neurological condition with rare yet potentially serious cutaneous and skeletal complications. We present a case of mutilating/ulcerating bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome in a 63 year old female. Radiographs showed symmetrical acral osteolysis in the index and middle fingers distal phalanges bilaterally. Carpal tunnel decompressions provided symptomatic relief.
carpal tunnel syndrome (cts) is the most common entrapment neuropathy. it accounts 90% of all entrapment neuropathies all over the world. ultrasound is a non-invasive, cost effective and available para-clinical method which could be applied for cts diagnosis. cross-sectional area of the median nerve at the level of the inlet is considered as a diagnostic criterion in cts cases. in this study, t...
patients and methods fifty nine patients with indication for carpal tunnel release randomly assigned into two groups: open (n=30) or knifelight (n=29). the patients compared regarding scar length, operation duration, time to return to daily activities and amount of pain at three weeks after operation based on visual analog scale. results there was no significant differences regarding age and se...

INTRODUCTION: Clinical studies of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), a pressure-induced neuropathy of the median nerve, are limited by the difficulty of evaluating the early stages of pathology. Thus, a validated animal model of CTS is an important need. A proper animal model would have comparable anatomy to the human carpal tunnel. In addition, because carpal tunnel syndrome is characterized by inc...
This study aimed to develop optimum information systems to improve physical function after carpal tunnel release. The t-test was done to compare the differences of physical function after carpal tunnel surgery before and after information system application. As a result, for carpal tunnel syndrome, the carpal status in subjects who have suffered from paresthesia decreased after the system appli...
