The hyperbolic radius of a domain on the Riemann sphere is equal to the reciprocal of the density of the hyperbolic metric. In the present paper, it is proved that the hyperbolic radius is a convex function if and only if the complement of the domain is a convex set.

The function of precipitation intensity-duration-frequency is needed for the planning and design of water resource projects. Short duration precipitation data are hardly available. However the total hourly-recorded available precipitation data for different parts of NWFP from different departments have been collected and analyzed for the present study. The data from WAPDA is found to be more au...

We study the oscillation frequencies and radiative decay rates of surface plasmon modes of a simple-metal sphere as a function of sphere radius without any assumptions concerning the sphere size. We re-examine within the framework of classical electrodynamics the usual expectations for multipolar plasmon frequency in the so called ”low radius limit” of the classical picture.

The aim of this paper is to study the subclasses of Janowski functions with bounded boundary and bounded radius rotations of order a. The order of a function from the class of Janowski functions with bounded boundary rotations to be from bounded radius rotations is of major interest and some of its applications are also discussed here. 2000 Mathematics subject classification: 30C45 • 30C50

Interfacial properties of helium nanobubbles in water at normal conditions have been investigated using large-scale molecular dynamics simulations for systems including over one million atoms. The surface tension of a helium nanobubble is a convex function with respect to the bubble radius, and is estimated to vanish at a critical radius of approximately 1 nm.

We investigate the errors due to the use of unphysical values of light quark masses in lattice extractions of αs. A functional form for the pion mass dependence of the quarkonium mass splittings (∆m) is given as an expansion in mπ/(4πfπ) and mπrB, where rB is the quarkonium Bohr radius. We find that, to lowest order, ∆m ≃ A + Bmπ, where the scale of B is given by f 2 πr 3 B. To order m 4 π ther...

Mission performance for small aircraft is often dependent on the turn radius. Various biologically inspired concepts have demonstrated that performance can be improved by morphing the wings in a manner similar to birds and bats; however, the morphing of the vertical tail has received less attention since neither birds nor bats have an appreciable vertical tail. This paper investigates a design ...

We prove a new sufficient condition for a Boolean function to be extremal balanced or maximally nonlinear, in odd or even dimension. Under this condition, we deduce the balanced covering radius ρB(n) and the covering radius ρ(n). We prove some general properties about maximally nonlinear or extremal balanced functions. Finally, an application to even weights Boolean functions is given.

It is proved that the Green’s function of the simple random walk on a surface group of large genus decays exponentially at the spectral radius. It is also shown that Ancona’s inequalities extend to the spectral radius R, and therefore that the Martin boundary for R−potentials coincides with the natural geometric boundary S.
