The quick advance in remote sensing technologies provides the ability to acquire high quality metric information. This is achievable by forming the relationship between image coordinates and ground coordinates as 2D and 2D-to3D transformation models. Most of these models are based on point features. Although point-based transformation models are well developed, it is time-consuming and costly t...

The evaluation of the future dynamics of deforestation is essential to creating the basis for the effective implementation of REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation) initiatives. Such evaluation is often a challenging task, especially for countries that have to cope with a critical lack of data and capacities, higher uncertainties, and competing interests. We presen...

Some rapid statistical tests give (a) rapid answers on how well methods agree and control chart evaluation (sign and run tests) and (b) evaluation of distribution of test results (Tukey's quick test and run test). These tests mainly require counting of data and the use of the given nomograms. An unusual distribution of patient test values--that is, unusual when compared with the generally obser...

We describe a continuous-speech interface for Quick Medical Reference (QMR), which allows physicians to input spoken descriptions of physical-examination findings, or observations. We analyze the difficulties in designing a continuous-speech interface for systems that use medical terminology. We present a method for matching spoken findings names expressed in natural language to QMR terms. The ...

This paper reconsiders evidence from experimental common pool resource games from the perspective of a model of payoff sampling. Despite being parameter-free, the model is able to replicate some striking features of the data, including single-peaked frequency distributions, the persistent use of strictly dominated actionsand stable heterogeneity in choices. These properties can also be accurate...

This paper studies the effects of increasing the number of sellers on Quantal Response Equilibrium (QRE) prices in homogeneous product Bertrand oligopoly markets. We show that the two most commonly used choice functions (power and logistic) lead to qualitatively different comparative-static predictions with respect to the relationship between number of firms and prices. Introduction Cloud computing evolved from the massive data centers that were built to handle the “big data” challenges that confronted the designers of on-line services like search and e-mail. For the most part, data from these services accrued into large collections in the cloud where they could be analyzed by massively parallel, batch computing jobs. The types of knowledge derived from this a...

Background: Insurance companies sometimes do not reimburse hospitals completely. Reducing the amount of deduction of bills increases hospital’s income and efficiency. This study compares the deductions imposed by social insurance organization on Imam Khomeini hospital’s bills before and after the implementation of health transformation plan.   Material and Methods: Data of this descriptive-de...

This paper presents an experiment that evaluates the effect of financial incentives and complexity in political science voting experiments. To evaluate the effect of complexity we adopt a level-k reasoning model concept. This model by Nagel [1] postulates that players might be of different types, each corresponding to the level of reasoning in which they engage. Furthermore, to postulate the ef...

This paper investigates the implications of normaland extensive-form quantal response equilibrium (QRE) models (McKelvey and Palfrey, 1995, Games and Economic Behavior; 1998, Experimental Economics) in the ultimatum bargaining game, assuming that players maximize expected monetary payo ̄ s. It is shown that normal-form QRE can select a non-sequential equilibrium, and that the selection depends c...
