The title compound, C(6)H(7)NO(2), is essentially planar with a dihedral angle of 3.6 (3)° between the pyrrole ring and the methoxy-carbonyl O/C/O/C plane. In the crystal structure, the N atom is a hydrogen-bond donor to the carboxylate C=O O atom of the neighboring mol-ecule. These inter-molecular hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of helical chains along the b axis.
The potential tridentate Schiff base ligand 2-[1-(2-pyridyl-methyl-imino)eth-yl]pyrrole (HL) was synthesized from the condensation of 2-acetyl-pyrrole with 2-amino-methyl-pyridine. The title compound, [Cu(C(12)H(12)N(3))Cl], was synthesized from HL and copper(II) chloride using triethyl-amine as a base to deprotonate the pyrrole NH group. The title compound is a monomer and the central copper(I...
The importance of cooperative hydrogen-bonding effects has been demonstrated using novel 3-methylenecyclopropane-1,2-dicarboxylic acid (Feist's acid (FA)) as hydrogen bond donor catalysts for the addition of indole and pyrrole to trans-β-nitrostyrene derivatives. Because of the hydrogen bond donor (HBD) ability, Feist's acid (FA) has been introduced as a new class of hydrogen bond donor catalys...
Hairpin polyamides are synthetic ligands for sequence-specific recognition in the minor groove of double-helical DNA. A thermodynamic characterization of the DNA-binding properties exhibited by a six-ring hairpin polyamide, ImPyPy-gamma-PyPyPy-beta-Dp (where Im = imidazole, Py = pyrrole, gamma = gamma-aminobutyric acid, beta = beta-alanine, and Dp = dimethylaminopropylamide), reveals an approxi...
Indole is a benzopyrrole in which the benzene and pyrrole rings are fused through the 2-and 3-positions of the pyrrole nucleus. The indole derivatives are very much used as anticonvulsant agents. In the same context, several indole derivatives were prepared by the reaction between indole-3carboxaldehyde and various p-substituted phenylsemicarbazides, in the presence of glacial acetic acid. The ...
Hairpin polyamides are synthetic ligands for sequence-specific recognition in the minor groove of doublehelical DNA. A thermodynamic characterization of the DNAbinding properties exhibited by a six-ring hairpin polyamide, ImPyPy-g-PyPyPy-b-Dp (where Im 5 imidazole, Py 5 pyrrole, g 5 g-aminobutyric acid, b 5 b-alanine, and Dp 5 dimethylaminopropylamide), reveals an '1-2 kcalymol greater affinity...
Disclosed is an inhibitor of the expression of CTGF gene, which comprises a pyrrole-imidazole polyamide. The pyrrole-imidazole polyamide has an N-methylpyrrole unit (hereinafter, referred to as “Py”), an N-methylimidazole unit (hereinafter, referred to as “Im”) and a ϝ-aminobutanoic acid unit. In the pyrrole-imidazole polyamide, the region of the ϝ-aminobutanoic acid unit is folded to form an U...
[reaction: see text] Acid-promoted reaction of sulfanyl group substituted allenic aldehyde with amine affords pyrrole derivatives in high yields. The neighboring group participation of the sulfanyl group is the driving force in this transformation.
Spin-label electron paramagnetic resonance (SL-EPR) spectroscopy has become a powerful and useful tool for studying structure and dynamics of biomacromolecules. However, utilizing these methods at physiological temperatures for in-cell studies is hampered by reduction of the nitroxide spin labels and thus short half-lives in the cellular environment. Consequently, reduction kinetics of two stru...
