We discuss a very general semantic operator arising within logic-based programming systems from an algebraic point of view, and show how it connects four interesting aspects of computation: neural networks, conventional logic programming, constraint logic programming, and simple models of uncertainty in logic-based systems.

In this tutorial we discuss several aspects of modeling and solving multistage stochastic programming problems. particular distributionally robust risk averse approaches to programming, the involved concept time consistency. This is aimed at presenting a certain point view on optimization, rather than complete survey topic.

This paper presents some syntactical and semantical aspects of FAUST (Functional AUdio STreams), a programming language for real-time sound processing and synthesis. The programming model of FAUST combines two approaches : functional programming and block-diagrams composition. It is based on a block-diagram algebra. It has a well defined formal semantic and can be compiled into efficient C/C++ ...

Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) promises the modularization of so-called crosscutting functionalities in large applications. Currently, almost all approaches to AOP provide means for the description of sequential aspects that are to be applied to a sequential base program. In particular, there is no formally-defined concurrent approach to AOP, with the result that coordination issues between ...

In this paper we propose the framework for a grammar-guided genetic programming system called Tree-Adjunct Grammar Guided Genetic Programming (TAGGGP). Some intuitively promising aspects of the model compared with other grammar-guided evolutionary methods are also highlighted. 1 Introduction Genetic programming (GP) is considered to be a machine learning method, which induces a population of co...

Lee Braine and Chris Clack Department of Computer Science, University College London, Gower Street, London, WC1E 6BT, UK Abstract The use of visual programming (VP) to assist either functional programming (FP) or object-oriented programming (OOP) has been extensively researched. However, the use of VP to assist the integration of FP and OOP has been largely neglected. This paper presents the ke...

This position paper argues that Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) is currently the best tool to prototype Object-Oriented Concurrent Programming (OOCP). Three aspects are considered: implementation, description ability, and programming environment. The Actalk system (which stands for actors in Smalltalk) is used along the discussion as an example supporting our position statement. The tutorial ...

Languages for aspect-oriented programming (AOP) [5], such as AspectJ, are now popular, and the concepts used by the AOP community such as join points, pointcuts and advices are well-known. At the same time, in recent years, the aspect oriented software development (AOSD) approach has been developing itself beyond the programming activity. More particularly, the Early Aspects Initiative [9] advo...

Aspect-oriented programming (AOP) provides assistance in modularizing concerns that crosscut the boundaries of system decomposition. Aspects have the potential to interact with many different kinds of language constructs in order to modularize crosscutting concerns. Although several aspect languages have demonstrated advantages in applying aspects to traditional modularization boundaries (e.g.,...

over the two last decades, distribution companies have been aware of the importance of paying attention to the all aspects of a distribution system simultaneously to be successful in the global market. these aspects are the economic, the environmental, the social and the safety aspects. in the vehicle routing problem (vrp) literature, the economic issue has often been used, while the environmen...
