We report our results for the structure and relative stability of mononuclear platinum species on a ceria nanoparticle Ce21O42 depending on reduction or oxidation of the system. The most stable platinum species is Pt(2+) at small {100} facets, where the ion is coordinated in a square-planar complex with four oxygen anions as ligands. Partial reduction of the system does not affect the state of ...

This work presents a new experimental kinetic study at 39° and 50° of the iodine oxidation by hydrogen peroxide. The results allow us to obtain the temperature effect on the rate constants previously proposed at 25° for our model of the Bray-Liebhafsky oscillating reaction (G. Schmitz, Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. 2010, 12, 6605.). The values calculated with the model are in good agreement with many...

In 1960 Leland Clark reported his discovery that the concentration of ascorhic acid injected into the blood stream could be measured continuously with a platinum electrode and amperometric apparatus. His communication was important because it gave cardiologists an innocuous indicator and a simple method for recording dilution curves within the circulation. The principle of the method is that a ...

The removal of sulfate ions from natural waters, as well industrial effluents different origins, is a problem, considering that most the proposed processes are inefficient and have high cost, mainly when reducing ion concentration to values below 500 mg.L−1 required. flotation technique, combined with precipitation, has proven be efficient for heavy metal ions. However, there not enough researc...

There is an increasing concern over the impact of human-related emissions on the acid precipitation in China. However, few measurements have been conducted so far to clarify the acid-neutralization of precipitation on a regional scale. Under a network of 10 sites across Northern China operated during a 3-year period from December 2007 to November 2010, a total of 1118 rain and snow samples were...

StereoElectronic Control of Unidirectional Reductive Elimination (SECURE) is provided by the cyclophane substituent on iodine(III). Computational and experimental studies demonstrate that out of plane steric bulk strongly destabilizes the reductive elimination transition state, and leads to regiochemical control. This approach should be general for high valent main group and transition metal ions.

Electron transfer dissociation (ETD) and collision induced dissociation (CID) have been used to locate the precise binding sites for platinum and ruthenium anticancer complexes on the peptide Substance P. We show that ETD combined with ion mobility-mass spectrometry significantly reduces mass spectral complexity and improves the S/N of the product-ions formed.

The photoreduction process of PtCl(6)2- to Pt nanoparticles in poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) solutions upon UV light irradiation was investigated by monitoring the change in the diffusion coefficient (D). The D values of chemical species during UV irradiation was measured by the laser-induced transient grating (TG) method. The TG signal of the PtCl(6)2- solution before UV irradiation was composed...

Energetic oxygen precipitation is one possible explanation for the auroral molecular hydrogen emissions observed by the Voyager ultraviolet spectrometer. These ions deposit their energy in the Jovian thermosphere by means of ionization, dissociation, excitation, and heating processes. The photochemistry of both the neutral gas and the ionosphere is altered by the influx of atomic oxygen. The au...
