Today's ubiquitous use of plastics in product design and manufacturing presents significant environmental and human health challenges. Injection molding, one of the most commonly used processes for making plastic products, consumes a significant amount of energy. A methodology for accurately estimating the energy consumed to injection-mold a part would enable environmentally conscious decision ...
Injection molding is widely used in the manufacturing process of plastic products. The injection aims to increase productivity, which impacted by factors such as cooling time, temperature distribution parts, thermal stress, warpage, etc. stage forming a critical factor that significantly influences quality and cost-effectiveness final product molding. With development additive manufacturing, fa...
The paper investigated the optimization design of plastic injection molding process parameters for preformed bottle production using grey-Taguchi method to minimize shrinkage defects. Diametrical (radial) and length (axial) were taken as responses one-liter PET preform perform by controlling four parameters. obtained optimum parameter combination was 260°C melting temperature, 70°C 120 MPa hold...
Quality control is an important aspect of manufacturing processes. Product quality of injection molded parts is influenced by the injection molding process. In this study statistical tools were used to develop a model that relates injection molding process variables to part quality. A statistically based model predictive control algorithm was developed for controlling part quality with manipula...
This paper proposes a neuro-fuzzy approach for optimizing injection molding parameter settings. The approach consists of design of experiments and neuro-fuzzy systems. Experimental data shows that the proposed approach performs better than the traditional trial and error practices usually involved in the injection molding process.
Process analysis and simulations on molding experiments of 3D thin shell parts have been conducted. Moldings were carried out with polyoxymethylene (POM). The moldings were performed with cavity pressure sensors in order to compare experimental process results with simulations. The warpage was characterized by measuring distances using a tactile coordinate measuring machine (CMM). Molding simul...
