In this paper we introduce the concept of modulus of regularity as a tool to analyze the speed of convergence, including the finite termination, for classes of Fejér monotone sequences which appear in fixed point theory, monotone operator theory, and convex optimization. This concept allows for a unified approach to several notions such as metric subregularity, Hölder regularity, weak sharp min...
In this paper, a new framework for the construction of accurate and efficient numerical methods for differential algebraic equation (DAE) initial value problems is presented. The methods are based on applying spectral deferred correction techniques as preconditioners to a Picard integral collocation formulation for the solution. The resulting preconditioned nonlinear system is solved using Newt...
We define and study the 2-category of torsors over a Picard groupoid, a central extension of a group by a Picard groupoid, and commutator maps in this central extension. Using this in the context of two-dimensional local fields and two-dimensional adèle theory we obtain the two-dimensional tame symbol and a new proof of Parshin reciprocity laws on an algebraic surface.
We determine the number of cusps of minimal Picard modular surfaces. The proof also counts cusps of other Picard modular surfaces of arithmetic interest. Consequently, for each N > 0 there are finitely many commensurability classes of nonuniform arithmetic lattices in SU(2, 1) that contain an N -cusped surface. We also discuss a higher-rank analogue.
There are infinitely many hyperbolic transforms of complex abelian surfaces. The corresponding universal covers change from the complex plane to the unit ball, from flat to hyperbolic metrics. Looking back to Jacobi’s periodic functions we were able to construct 2-dimensional abelian functions transformable to automorphic forms on the ball. In this article we prove explicit dimension formulas f...
We give an explicit formula for the Mordell-Weil rank of an abelian fibered variety and some of its applications for an abelian fibered hyperkähler manifold. As a byproduct, we also give an explicit example of an abelian fibered variety in which the Picard number of the generic fiber in the sense of scheme is different from the Picard number of generic closed fibers.
We consider some integral equations with iterations of linear modification of the argument which provide us Picard operators and weakly Picard operators. We study the existence, existence and uniqueness, and data dependence for the solutions of these equations. AMS Mathematics Subject Classification (2000): 34K05, 47H10
Abstract This paper develops an efficient and robust solution technique for the steady Boussinesq model of non-isothermal flow using Anderson acceleration applied to a Picard iteration. After analyzing fixed point operator associated with nonlinear iteration prove that certain stability regularity properties hold, we apply authors’ recently constructed theory acceleration, which yields converge...
In this note, a general class of contractive inequality, namely, admissible hybrid H − α ϕ contraction, is proposed in metric space endowed with graph, and new criteria for which the mapping Picard operator are examined. The ...
In the current paper, some existence and uniqueness results for a generalized proportional Hadamard fractional integral equation are established via Picard Picard-Krasnoselskii iteration methods together with Banach contraction principle. A simulative example was provided to verify applicability of theoretical findings.
