We extend the approach in Yang (2010) for identifying locally optimal designs for nonlinear models. Conceptually the extension is relatively simple, but the consequences in terms of applications are profound. As we will demonstrate, we can now study locally optimal designs for a much larger class of models than hitherto.

The main rock mass classification systems make use of similar rock mass parameters. Due to lack of comprehensive estimation systems, determining the real specifications of jointed rocks faces some difficulties. A vast number of parameters with various degrees of impact are involved in such definitions. Combination impact of all the effective parameters is to be figured out in order to come up w...

Ultrasound imaging is a popular and noninvasive tool frequently used in the diagnoses of liver diseases. A system to characterize normal, fatty and heterogeneous liver, using textural analysis of liver Ultrasound images, is proposed in this paper. The proposed approach is able to select the optimum regions of interest of the liver images. These optimum regions of interests are analyzed by two l...

It was introduced in this paper the Optimum-Path Forest for land use classification aiming a better environmental management, using images obtained from CBERS 2B CCD satellite covering the area of the Rio das Pedras watershed, Itatinga City, São Paulo State, Brazil. We also compared the Optimum-Path Forest algorithm with the well known supervised classifiers: Artificial Neural Networks using Mu...

1. Abstract and Summary In 2002, to cope with demand uncertainty, we have defined and proposed optimum demand planning hierarchy (DPH) to best support different granularities of planning activities. (see 2002 deliverable report). This year, the proposed DPH is extended from one-product DPH to hierarchical-product DPH. In addition, the DPH concept has been realized in a software system prototype...

Decision making tasks are often complex and ill-defined, and they are also multi-aspect because many factors influence the decision process. Decision support systems (DSS) which are frequently used in business and manufacturing have a potential to cope with vagueness and illstructure of complex decision making situations. Also an optimum DSS can be developed for multidimensional decision proble...

In this paper, we present a fusion rule for distributed multihypothesis decision systems where communication patterns among sensors are given and the fusion center may also observe data. It is a specific form of the most general fusion rule, independent of statistical characteristics of observations and decision criteria, and thus, is called a unified fusion rule of the decision system. To achi...

Robust nonlinear controller design with constraint on the poles' location of the linear part of closed-loop system is proposed. The design method is based on the integrator backstepping procedure and linear constrained ∞ H for nonlinear strictfeedback systems with disturbance also in strict-feedback form. The resulted closedloop system will be globally stable, while both local robustness and de...

In the present work, some efforts have been made to search of effective rotation patterns in estimation of precision of population mean of study variable on current occasion in two-occasion successive sampling. Information on an auxiliary character, which is readily available on previous and current occasion, has been used along with the information on study character from the first and second ...

ooms et al sets out some good general principles for a global social support system to improve fairer global competitiveness as a result of redistribution. this commentary sets out to summarize some of the conditions that would need to be satisfied for it to level up gradients in inequality through such a social support system, using the national basketball association (nba) example as a point ...
