In this article, a one parameter family of discontinuous Galerkin finite volume element methods for approximating the solution of a class of second-order linear elliptic problems is discussed. Optimal error estimates in L2 and broken H 1norms are derived. Numerical results confirm the theoretical order of convergences. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ‎In this short note‎, ‎we present some inequalities for relative operator entropy which are generalizations of some results obtained by Zou [Operator inequalities associated with Tsallis relative operator entropy‎, ‎{em Math‎. ‎Inequal‎. ‎Appl.}‎ ‎{18} (2015)‎, ‎no‎. ‎2‎, ‎401--406]‎. ‎Meanwhile‎, ‎we also show some new lower and upper bounds for relative operator entropy and Tsallis relative o...

In this study, we introduce the notion of pointwise and uniform statistical convergence of double sequences of real-valued functions. We also give the relations between these convergences and pointwise, uniform convergence. Furthermore, we introduce the concept of statistically Cauchy sequence and study statistical analogue of convergence and Cauchy criterion for double sequences of real-valued ...

A BFGS method, in association with a new backtracking line search technique, is presented for solving symmetric nonlinear equations. The global and superlinear convergences of the given method are established under mild conditions. Preliminary numerical results show that the proposed method is better than the normal technique for the given problems. c © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

This note accompanies T. Mart́ınez–Coronado, A. Mir, F. Rosselló and G. Valiente’s work “A balance index for phylogenetic trees based on quartets”, introducing a new balance index for trees. We show here that this balance index, in the case of Aldous’s β ≥ 0–model, convergences weakly to a contraction–type distribution.

In summer at night in the Bering Sea hydromedusae and scyphomedusae formed dense aggregations at the surface in convergences apparently produced by Langmuir circulation cells. During strong winds distance between parallel rows regularly exceeded 100 m; densities of medusae within rows reached 1,000 m-3. Physical and behavioral factors can increase spatial aggregation and thereby alter the rate ...
