background: infectious bursal disease virus (ibdv) causes a highly immunosuppressive disease in chickens and is a pathogen of major economic importance to the poultry industry worldwide. the vp2 protein is the major host-protective immunogen of ibdv and has been considered as a potential subunit vaccine against the disease. vp2 coding sequence was cloned in an inducible fungal vector and the pr...
The Aspergillus niger genome contains four genes that encode proteins exhibiting greater than 30% amino acid sequence identity to the confirmed oxaloacetate acetyl hydrolase (OAH), an enzyme that belongs to the phosphoenolpyruvate mutase/isocitrate lyase superfamily. Previous studies have shown that a mutant A. niger strain lacking the OAH gene does not produce oxalate. To identify the function...
Xylanases produced by Aspergillus niger are industrially important and many types of xylanases have been reported. Individual xylanases have been well studied for their enzymatic properties, gene cloning, and heterologous expression. However, less attention has been paid to the relationship between xylanase genes carried on the A. niger genome and xylanases produced by A. niger strains. Therefo...
Endopolygalacturonases have been purified from the extracellular enzymes of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum and Aspergillus niger. A protein, purified from Red Kidney (Phaseolus vulgaris) beans for its ability to inhibit the endopolygalacturonase secreted by C. lindemuthianum, inhibits the A. niger endopolygalacturonase almost as efficiently as it inhibits the C. lindemuthianum enzyme.
Aspergillus was found as a dominant fungi to associate with brands of bindis. Among three potencies of four homeopathic drugs, Lycopodium 1M, Sulphur 1M, and Sepia 30 showed maximum inhibition zone of Aspergillus niger in inhibition zone technique. In poison food technique, Sepia 30M, Tellurium 30M, Sulphur 1M and Lycopodium 200 showed maximum percentage inhibition against A. niger
After publication of the original article [1], the following error was reported in the Results section of the Abstract: "antifungal activity against one yeast i.e. Aspergillus niger" should read: "antifungal activity against one fungus i.e. Aspergillus niger". The authors would like to confirm all antifungal activity has been screened against fungi not yeast.
The respiratory rates of mycelia of the mesophilic fungus, Aspergillus niger, and the thermophilic fungus, Thermomyces lanuginosus, were comparable at their respective temperature optima for growth. The respiratory rate of A. niger was independent of changes in temperature between 15 and 40 C. The respiratory rate of T. lanuginosus increased with increase in temperature between 25 and 55 C.
The biotechnological potential of pectinolytic fungi isolated from citrus fruits was studied. Seventy five fungal isolates were isolated from decayed citrus fruits. All of these isolates were screened for their pectinolytic activity. Thirty six out of seventy five isolates proved to have pectinolytic activity. These isolates were identified and classified into twenty strains belonging to eleven...
background and objective: recent studies have shown that anticholinergic alkaloids compounds have strong analgesic effects. due to presence of anticholinergic alkaloids in hyoscyamus niger and its mentioned effects in iranian traditional medicine, its analgesic effects were assessed. at first, acute and chronic pain thresholds in male nmri rats with formalin test was evaluated, then oral and in...
background: this study aimed to investigate the biosorption of pentachlorophenol on aspergillus niger biomass as a method for removal of pentachlorophenol from aqueous solutions. methods: modified a. niger biomass with naoh was used to absorb the pentachlorophenol. the impacts of various experimental parameters like primary pentachlorophenol concentration, ph of the solution, contact time, and ...
