After the EMC and subsequent experiments at CERN, SLAC and DESY on the deep inelastic scattering of polarized leptons on polarized nucleons, it is now established that the Q 2 = 0 value of the axial strange form factor of the nucleon, a quantity which is connected with the spin of the proton and is quite relevant from the theoretical point of view, is relatively large. In this review we conside...

We derive general expressions for the cross section of neutrino scattering on electrons in dense, hot stellar matter, in the presence of strong magnetic fields. Numerical calculations of the scattering cross sections at various densities, temperatures and magnetic fields, are performed. Strong, quantizing magnetic fields modify significantly the angular and energy dependence of the scattering c...

Abstract. SciBooNE is a neutrino experiment measuring neutrino cross sections on carbon in the one GeV region. We have performed a search for charged current coherent pion production from muon neutrinos scattering on carbon, νμ 12C → μ−12Cπ+. No evidence for coherent pion production is observed. We set 90% confidence level upper limits on the cross section ratio of charged current coherent pion...

The neutrino-electron processes in a dense strongly degenerate magnetized plasma are analyzed in the framework of the Standard Model. The total probability and the mean values of the neutrino energy and momentum losses are calculated. It is shown that neutrino scattering on the excited electrons with Landau level number conservation dominates under the conditions μ2 > eB ≫ μT but does not give ...

We study the neutral-current neutrino scattering for four nuclei in the iron region. We evaluate the cross sections for the relevant temperatures during the supernova core collapse and derive Gamow-Teller distributions from large-scale shell-model calculations. We show that the thermal population of the excited states significantly enhances the cross sections at low neutrino energies. Calculati...

Neutrino oscillation is the only known phenomenon for physics beyond the standard model. To investigate this phenomenon, the understanding of low energy neutrino scattering (200 < Eν < 2000 MeV) is the crucial task for high energy physicists. In this energy region, the charged current quasi-elastic (CCQE) neutrino interaction is the dominant process, and experiments require a precise model to p...

We discuss the final results of the MACRO experiment on atmospheric neutrino oscillations. The data concern event topologies with average neutrino energies of ∼ 3 and ∼ 50 GeV. Multiple Coulomb Scattering of the high energy muons was used to estimate the neutrino energy event by event. The angular distributions, the L/Eν distribution, the particle ratios and the absolute fluxes all favor νμ → ν...

Motivated by the evidence for a finite neutrino mass we examine anew the interaction of neutrinos in a magnetic field. We present the rate for radiative scattering for both massless and massive neutrinos in the standard model and give the corresponding numerical estimates. We also consider the effects arising from a possible neutrino magnetic moment.
